Why are you so afraid of my opinion?
I think you need to think about this. A long time.

Nah. Not more than a microsecond. If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.Schneibster wrote:Then why don't you ask me for it?

Okay, this one crossed the line. You deliberately and maliciously edited a quote in a manner that reverses what I actually said. This is bald-faced misrepresentation and it's a no-no here, so I'm reporting it.Schneibster wrote:FIFY. You need to think about this. You cross the line, I report you. That's not gaming the system, that IS the system.Schneibster wrote:Game the system.
Predictable.
Schneibster wrote:Gaming the system, what every good little jackbooted thug predictably does when the question he dare not answer comes along, when the opinion that scares him shows up.
There is a FIFY in there.Seth wrote:Okay, this one crossed the line. You deliberately and maliciously edited a quote in a manner that reverses what I actually said. Since some people (like me) don't immediately recognize that, it can lead to unnecessary confusion. One of the mods can edit the post to look like:http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=FIFY wrote: FIFY
acronym used in message boards, meaning "Fixed it for ya". Most often used in quoting another posters work and slightly changing it.
Poster 1 "I really enjoyed 'Brokeback Mountain!'"
Poster 2: "<Poster_1>I really enjoy gay sex with cowboys!</Poster_1> FIFY!
If both parties agree.Seth wrote:Schneibster wrote:Seth wrote:Yes.Schneibster wrote:So basically you just talk at people.

This is not acceptable. If someone is going to "edit" a quote by adding to or changing the actual words and context, then they must leave the original words intact and use the strikeout function along with an indication that the quote has been edited in sufficient detail to make it perfectly clear what the original statement was and how it has been changed. In this case, the "fixed fairy" does not reveal the context of what was changed and therefore attributed falsely something Schneibster wrote as something I wrote.Schneibster wrote:Fine by me.
ETA: I'll remember to use the emoticon from now on, too.

Personally, I'd opt for a rule making it a violation of the FUA to "edit" someone else's words AT ALL. It's lazy, cheap, unethical and leads to situations like this. If you have a comment to make, then use what wit you have and produce it yourself.
I believe this dispute should become it's own tech section thread with an eye towards clarifying the rules regarding changing what others have written.
Well come on, Seth, think about what you're saying.Seth wrote:See, that's exactly what I mean.Psychoserenity wrote:Seth wrote:RAH RAHH RAHH RAH RAAAAAHHG!!!!
