Oh, and Scum Busdriver should count as 2 Scum or something.

Seriously, a scum busdriver was the only solution. I didn't know which of diva and r.c it was, and diva didn't give discussion a chance.

Not trying to be difficult here .. just wondering about differing scenarios ... I can see why the 'eliminate threats to town' wording fits, but also why it can create confusion, particularly when other factions are/maybe involved.charlou wrote:Wait ... ob ... if it was down to diva, amok and me (for example) .. would you have said town win and amok wins with town as per her win condition ... or would town have had to play on to get rid of the final threat to town, the SK?charlou wrote:An indie who can choose to align with whoever they like (and change that from moment to moment/day to day, depending on who of town and scum is looking good) is a threat from the perspective that the indie has their own win condition in mind.
BUT ... had town won and the indie, who was supposedly a threat, was still in play ... What then?
For example, a town eliminating all threats scenario .. had it got down to two town and SK amok (as distinct from two town and one scum) would that have been end game? Or even one town and amok?
So, yeah .... the wording of the town win condition isn't ideal in this context.

But who killed Ksen?

Oh, sorry, I was dying to ask that and forgot to congratulate RC & the Scum team.
And thank you very much, Oblivion, for the great game. Not to mention the interesting role I got to try!

Good work scum team

I would have said town wins and so does Amok.charlou wrote:Wait ... ob ... if it was down to diva, amok and me (for example) .. would you have said town win and amok wins with town as per her win condition ... or would town have had to play on to get rid of the final threat to town, the SK?charlou wrote:An indie who can choose to align with whoever they like (and change that from moment to moment/day to day, depending on who of town and scum is looking good) is a threat from the perspective that the indie has their own win condition in mind.

I just read the Scumboard. RC killed Ksen and switched Charlou and Higgs. I didn't realize that was possible, so I was sure there must be two Scum left.amok wrote:But who killed Ksen?

So, in this instance the SK wasn't a threat to town?oblivion wrote:I would have said town wins and so does Amok.charlou wrote:Wait ... ob ... if it was down to diva, amok and me (for example) .. would you have said town win and amok wins with town as per her win condition ... or would town have had to play on to get rid of the final threat to town, the SK?charlou wrote:An indie who can choose to align with whoever they like (and change that from moment to moment/day to day, depending on who of town and scum is looking good) is a threat from the perspective that the indie has their own win condition in mind.

As I said in the zombie board, it gets frustrating when literally anything you post - as well as if you don't post - is considered a "scum tell."

^yep, I don't think you should be shackled to TR history on this site. I don't think you were scummy.
Re: Re: Re: Stargate SG1 - Day 7
she wasn't a threat since she chose to ally with town. but there was still potential threats in her role. she could have changed her mind at the last minute when town depended on her vote, for instance. a gm can't know how someone will play atown compatible role, killing or not.charlou wrote:So, in this instance the SK wasn't a threat to town?oblivion wrote:I would have said town wins and so does Amok.charlou wrote:Wait ... ob ... if it was down to diva, amok and me (for example) .. would you have said town win and amok wins with town as per her win condition ... or would town have had to play on to get rid of the final threat to town, the SK?charlou wrote:An indie who can choose to align with whoever they like (and change that from moment to moment/day to day, depending on who of town and scum is looking good) is a threat from the perspective that the indie has their own win condition in mind.

I have been town compatible indie in games where town had this win condition. I thought it was fair. I had to prove I was not a threat and was a useful ally by my own actions.

I don't think he is shackled. I would like to see him improve here rather than try to force other players to giveirretating wrote:^yep, I don't think you should be shackled to TR history on this site. I don't think you were scummy.
him special consideration.

I'm a bit skeptical about the usefulness of simple, depersonalized ("objective") scum tells such as reverse cheerleading, revenge voting, etc. They are among the easiest things to argue about in the game thread, but they don't seem to me to be the most informative in terms of alignment. Do you really rely on such tells as much as your game thread posts suggests?Bilirubin (d2p7) wrote:Quite agree with the many folks who try to pattern match. I think that pattern matching is an advanced technique that many players aren't terribly good at because it takes a particular person to be effective, and its not easily taught. Folks should focus on objective scum tells until their games get solid.
Both the TR and Ratz communities have very heterogenous communities in that expectations of others' play is very personalized (e.g. some players get away with 2 posts/day, others don't; some players get away with being very inattentive, others don't; etc.) in a way that I think forces reliance on personalized "tells". The closest I've come to depersonalized inferences are probably looking back at the end-of-day vote counts from previous days (day 1 non-voters here at Ratz are annoying confounders, though) and the 2nd closest would be interaction reads of player pairs that I take to decrease the odds for some of scum-scum, scum-town, town-scum, town-town.

Yeah ,depersonalized "scum tells" are stupid. Some people (like me) can't help making them no matter what alignment. Better players don't make them no matter their alignment.
