AFAICT nightson didn't give off any special vibes, so my working theory is that diva being scum wanted him gone as he had his scumdar locked on her. Anything else is just too much WIFOM.

Of course I am. I'm always confused for the first few days. I need more than a day or two of posts and actions before I can make decisions I consider sensible. I usually vote anyway, because I learned Mafia on a site where there's a penalty for not voting, but also because I think it's a bit of a cop out not to vote for anything other than a real-life reason.

This meta stuff sounds like so much woo to me, in the first few days at least. Sounds like lots of citing, with lots affirmation when a guess is right, and lots of self-exculpation when it's wrong.

Now to read today again and add to the growing database.
You had Nightson as town until late in the day? Nightson only made five posts, which included lynching Diva, Feck and Btern. I think this just shows that people given Special roles are in as much in a muddle as everyone else at first, until they can start using their powers and aligning with others.
It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.

Yes, I've played Mafia before. And the first few days are always confusing to me. The latter days, not so much (though I've also been wrong, right to the end - haven't you?). In general, however, after I get information, the confusion ebbs. I don't see that as a problem.

Yes. I made that judgment based on his pattern of voting.

Quite agree with the many folks who try to pattern match. I think that pattern matching is an advanced technique that many players aren't terribly good at because it takes a particular person to be effective, and its not easily taught. Folks should focus on objective scum tells until their games get solid.

Can you see my point about it being used as a hedge by scum, to cover for their constant voting for town?

Explain more, please. There can't be any "constant voting for Town" on Day 1 (or even Day 2). Voting is willy-nilly until facts come into play.

I didn't spot anything in nightsons posts yesterday either, but it's my first game with him, wondering if someone who plays with him regularly may have picked up on his special game?

Diva tends to be way more together as scum than she is as town, having teammates seems to temper the major flailing we get when she's under pressure as town, yesterday looked a little like she was trying to replicate a town drama, badly, but could just be my read on it.

Shizzle, seems too scummy to be scum, but then again could be a double bluff, or just bad play.

Irre, kinda glad I left my mayor vote where it was yesterday, getting a town vibe today.
