The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Looks a bit lavish for the state they're in now. :funny:

I've waited years for this meltdown ... I'm now going to enjoy seeing Frank Fahey eliminated for a second time here in Galway. It's like Groundhog Day. :hehe:

It's the count that never ends! All the seats have been filled here, but we'll have another recount this afternoon, just for the hell of it ...

... well, that and the fact that there are just 17 votes deciding the last seat. :tea:

Vote counting - and watching coverage of vote counting - is a very Irish experience. I'll probably be up until 3am on Sunday morning waiting for the results of the 12th count from the back arse of nowhere.

In case you don't figure it out, we have a general election today. :whisper:
US reporting on the Irish elections has been obtuse and recondite in the extreme. It's all "Fina Faille this" and "Foofaraw Fuckups that" with absolutely NO analysis or information whatever as to the political platforms of the various parties in the election, what they want, what they intend to do, what the last inhabitants did right or wrong, how they plan to fix what went wrong or anything. Are they conservative, liberal, socialist, Marxist, Communist, what?

Irish politics are as dense as neutronium outside of Ireland.

Still in the market for a sexy young Irish girl looking for a Green Card...

You need to be in Ireland to understand why. :tea:

Meanwhile, my constituency is still re-counting ... they could be up until 6am tomorrow morning again. :what:

I gather the Tanaiste lost her seat. She's in my constituency, the silly cow.

I voted Labour.

Yes, and not before time. Silly bitch. I used to think there should be more women in politics till she came along.
