credibility based on appearance now? Come on.kiki5711 wrote:He does speak well, but he should get his teeth fixed, he'd look more credible. I also couldn't understand one word in his song or raps whatever they're called.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Yea! and I hope he doesn't wear his pants down to his ankles either. I just can't stand that. My son has a habit of drooling his pants low, (not to his knees) but too low for my taste and I yell at him every time for that.sandinista wrote:credibility based on appearance now? Take heart, saggy pants means he's not seriously considering a career in crime, except crimes of fashion. Ever see anyone trying to run away from the cops in those things?kiki5711 wrote:Yea! and I hope he doesn't wear his pants down to his ankles either. I just can't stand that. Any rapper may or may not have a well thought out stance. But the "rapper" hat, like the "folk singer" hat or "plumber" hat, does not reflect highly on its wearer's intellectual credentials.sandinista wrote:true, although age doesn't necessarily mean being completely out of touch with the current world. I mean, the guy says "rapper" like its some kind of insult, or that all rappers or musicians are stupid. I can just hear him yelling at kids to get off his lawn.Crumple wrote:Gawdzilla wrote:You want to die young, go ahead. In fact, you might want to consider that to be your best option. That's the bitterness of age.
I once remember Amy Goodman complaining that P Diddy did not get a chance to speak at some Democratic Party thing during Obama's campaign. I said to the radio:
I said, but until now I never wrote:Damn right P Diddy isn't going to speak! No matter what he has to say, he calls himself "P Diddy" and it's a close election where we're trying to get a bunch of independent white voters to vote for a black guy and we don't need them to associate the name "P Diddy" with the first ever black guy who's got a real shot at the White House. Seriously: do you really want to have the conservatives repeating the name "P Diddy" in association with Obama 24-7 until election day?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Frankly, that's complete rubbish. Based on nothing but your own opinion. May as well replace "rapper" with "black", "folk singer" with "artist" and "plumber" with "working class".Robert_S wrote:

I was speaking about widely held general opinion in the US. If you want to be taken seriously as an intellectual, put on an intellectual hat. And I was referring to "Joe the Plumber" who had his 15 minutes courtesy of McCain-Palin.sandinista wrote:Frankly, that's complete rubbish. Based on nothing but your own opinion. Re: Conditions ripe for uprising across America
Why would anyone want to consider the "widely held general opinion" of americans on anything? It's a "widely held general opinion" in the US that the earth was created 10 thousand years ago and that lady gaga is talented.Robert_S wrote:I was speaking about widely held general opinion in the US. It all depends on whether or not you consider major political change in N America to be an attainable goal, or are your politics just a fashion statement.sandinista wrote:Why would anyone want to consider the "widely held general opinion" of americans on anything? fashion statement? Not sure what you mean. You would have to post this!
I've been trying to convince Seth that he is a complete lunatic for wanting to be part of a militia ready to defend America from a Marxist uprising!
He will take your words as gospel!
Delusional, romantic fools abound on both extremes of politics; always have, always will...

You flatter yourself...btw, not everyone sells out as they age. Only sell outs. Guessing you don't even know how old I am?JimC wrote:I am the rational average of Seth and yourself...sandinista wrote:Yah...and you would be the true "non delusional" one I take it? 37?
It is not a matter of selling out, but about not chasing the unattainable.

...and you are 39...so in 2 years I'll be "all grown up"? Interesting. I'm sure slaves (as well as pretty much member of every social/political movement) were told to not chase the "unattainable" either. Glad they never "grew up".Robert_S wrote:37?

edit...I actually wasn't asking you...I guess I need to be 50 to be "all grown up"
