To park. That's it.
People in the UK whinge about our healthcare system.
You paid 2.50.

It "cost" much more.
Oh I know. I had to drive there and pay for that too, but I don't mind that too much.
I'm fucking kidding!!
Correction - it "cost" SOMEONE ELSE much more.
You quoted me, but you didn't even bother to look.
Look again.
That's better
Coito ergo sum wrote:...the health services is what I was referring to...not your gas and parking...although the parking was probably subsidized too. The health services didn't cost 2.50. The health serves cost a lot more than that. You just didn't pay it.
For fuck's sake, I know a lot of others don't read what you write, but you should really check it yourself.
I KNOW it didn't cost £2.50, I KNOW it was more than that. But you didn't appreciate I was being positive about the health service here, and merely jumped on the post without absorbing any of its content.
LOOK AGAIN UP THERE. I MADE IT BIGGER THIS TIME.

£2.50? Scandalous! I pay nothing, not even for prescriptions :woot:
You should. Freeloading bastid! ;ob;

If your family gets Tax Credits, you're covered until you're 20. They might be too.

Prescription charges are £2.00 and will be dropping to £0 soon for everyone in Scotland . Residential care for the elderly will soon be free too

Here, "children" are covered on their parents' health insurance policies until they are 26. We're just going to turn into Never Never Land where nobody actually has to grow up. Image

For now, yeah - it's weird - things that cost money have to be paid for...it's an odd concept, I know. Don't worry though, we're well on our way to pretending that things don't cost money and just getting a bill from the gubmint for it all....

I'm surprised babies aren't charged for being born in the US, you chaps put a price on the most peculiar things. Human health isn't an industry, it's a matter of welfare. Can't imagine a Britain without the NHS; it would be contemplating a primitive and savage society where Insurance companies have capital over the lives and health of individuals. How disgusting.

Babies are charged for being born in the USA. I'm pretty sure I've heard of a separate bill. For the baby. But certainly, I've heard that families pay a lot of money to give birth in a hospital.

You've heard wrong, actually. Hospital stays and childbirth are covered by insurance, and those that don't have insurance are covered under Medicaid and SCHIP government provided services. Nobody has to pay out of pocket for it.

I heard in the UK doctors get paid to perform childbirth services, as do nurses. I also heard that the equipment used there costs money too, and that it's paid for. Isn't it? OR, do you have slaves doing the work for you? Hmmm... not sure...then each citizen is asked to pay for those childbirth services....oh, that's a much better system - just hide the cost and pretend that hospital services are free.

Hospitals don't have to pay shareholders like insurance companies do.

To say that an insurance industry can make a profit , have staff ,managers a highly paid board ,pay dividends etc out of the money people pay for their health care before any of that money gets to a doctor or a hospital but that somehow makes health care better is ridicules .

Shareholders don't have to be paid either. Shareholders buy and sell stock. It's only if there is sufficient funds over and above working capital, salaries and profits that a company MIGHT declare a dividend to shareholders. It's not something insurance companies "have to do" though.
