...the health services is what I was referring to...not your gas and parking...although the parking was probably subsidized too. The health services didn't cost 2.50. The health serves cost a lot more than that. You just didn't pay it.

You've heard wrong, actually. Hospital stays and childbirth are covered by insurance, and those that don't have insurance are covered under Medicaid and SCHIP government provided services. Nobody has to pay out of pocket for it.

To say that an insurance industry can make a profit , have staff ,managers a highly paid board ,pay dividends etc out of the money people pay for their health care before any of that money gets to a doctor or a hospital but that somehow makes health care better is ridicules .

Shareholders don't have to be paid either. Shareholders buy and sell stock. It's only if there is sufficient funds over and above working capital, salaries and profits that a company MIGHT declare a dividend to shareholders. It's not something insurance companies "have to do" though.
