Unlockables keep me playing games until I've got everything most of the time, the PS3 trophies and the Xbox 360 kudos are great for that.
Put a score board on any game and I become competitive too, ask JasonK what I'm like on MarioKart Wii

Me on SSBB is nasty. I hate having items because it takes away the pwnage and skill, so anytime anyone gets a smash ball I quit.

You have a Wii? I've got Smash Bros brawl too but I haven't played it enough to get good at it. You want a game online?
(I also bought Pokemon Pearl and a USB wifi connector for my DS if you want to play any of them)

Nope, really couldn't care less about them. I don't care about finishing a game either. For me, it's either the storyline, or the style that appeals to me. In Empire Total War, it's the historical jokes (Taking over Poland as Prussia, or conquering mainland Europe as Britain) as well as the wonderful sensation of facing twice the number of men, making a oval meaning only one fourth of the army is facing the opponent, fortifying the position and letting the fools crash into highly trained line infantry. You haven't seen blood until you've shed it at those numbers. Whether I unlock the "You killed one million people" award is irrelevant, although amusing the see pop-up in the corner of the screen.
The original arrogant bastard.

It gets its grand premier tonight after dinner. I will let you know.

I'm playing an old Rockstar game, Red Dead Revolver. It's kinda fun so far. Nothing great or anything. Very limited and confining compared to their GTA games.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I bought FFXII Revenant Wings for the DS on Monday to play on the bus journey home and so far it's pretty disappointing. Doesn't have the right feel to it like other FF games.

And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. Ah, the lizard wall-climber. He was a bitch. A BITCH. I finally figured out a good strategy, but I still really didn't know what the hell I was doing. Dunno if there was a better way. Prolly was. But I beat him eventually anyway.
By the way, I just read this at Wikipedia:
Connections to Ico
Shadow of the Colossus is considered both a spiritual successor[37] and prequel to Ico.[5] For several months during and after the game's release, the game's director and lead designer, Fumito Ueda, maintained that the game's status as a prequel was simply his personal take on the game and not necessarily its canon nature, as he largely intended for players to decide the specifics of the story for themselves. However, during an interview in March 2006, Ueda revealed that a specific connection between the two games exists: the world featured in the two is the same, with Shadow of the Colossus taking place at an unspecified time before Ico. He revealed that Wander sires the line of horned boys of which Ico's protagonist is a descendant.[6] Moreover, the shadowy figures which appear in the Shrine of Worship are connected to the shadows which the player must fight in Ico.[25] Both games use unique fictional languages as well.[38][39]

Yeah, pity they didn't have time to finish it though, there are a few dead ends that should have been explored.
