Unlockables keep me playing games until I've got everything most of the time, the PS3 trophies and the Xbox 360 kudos are great for that.

Nope, really couldn't care less about them. I don't care about finishing a game either. For me, it's either the storyline, or the style that appeals to me. In Empire Total War, it's the historical jokes (Taking over Poland as Prussia, or conquering mainland Europe as Britain) as well as the wonderful sensation of facing twice the number of men, making a oval meaning only one fourth of the army is facing the opponent, fortifying the position and letting the fools crash into highly trained line infantry. You haven't seen blood until you've shed it at those numbers. I bought FFXII Revenant Wings for the DS on Monday to play on the bus journey home and so far it's pretty disappointing. Doesn't have the right feel to it like other FF games.
