I know I wouldn't toss them in a river, but what humane method would you all choose?

This is disingenuous, we aren't discussing how a 'humane' enthusiasm should be performed. And we certainly are not disputing the girl's 'novice' approach. She was killing the puppies, it was an act of cruelty. You can clearly hear going 'weeee' as she did it. It was for entertainment, not a contestable necessity for well-being of the animals.

Unlike third-world barbarians such as herself, here in Britain we put animals to sleep through veterinary application. We do this because we have a responsibility to our pets welfare. If she had to discard these animals for whatever reason, she should have never purchased the mother animal in the first place. If you have to do this, you're in no position for accepting the responsibility entailed through pet ownership.

Should she have recorded more than the 40 seconds that she did, maybe I'd have more to go by. It's fair to extrapolate that from the briefness of the clip, she had no intention of journaling anything other than the cruelty.

Now who's making assumptions? Slaughter house workers are professionals, they aren't committed to the job for recreational purposes.

If I were to kill puppies it wouldn't be like that. I think taking it to the proper authorities is the way to go. That said, I once killed a mouse by chipping it into the top corner of the soccer net after it ran out onto the pitch and laughed my ass off when i was her age so I'm not really in a position to criticise.

I've killed lots of animals, so I guess I'm allowed to comment.

I think any moron can tell you, death from asphyxia is not a quick and painless way to die. Puppies that small and fragile could be killed an infinate amount of instant and painless ways, snap their necks or drop an anvil on their heads, or something. The fact that it was filmed at all means they didn't care about the animals suffering, it was "just a joke" a "bit of fun".

I would hope that they'd manage something somewhat more humane than drowning. That said, drowning isn't as bad as leaving them to starve or something like that.

I heard something on the radio on the way back from hospital today - something about people breaking into an animal shelter and tearing a goat's horns off then breaking its legs. I've not had the chance to look it up yet, as I've just arrived home, but it seems quite... extraordinary.

I can't help but think it'll get far less exposure than the cat bin. I'm not sure if this is worse or not, that's a lot of puppies, but the crime is far less violent. Hurm :s

They drowned (probably) and it could have been quicker, or a LOT worse.
She didn't torture these, that I could see.
And if you decided to film your killing, would you be somber? Would it make a difference? What about the creepy fuckers in the slaughterhouses who joke darkly all day long?
What about the well-known black humour of ER nurses?

Filming it IS in poor taste, but all they showed was relatively quick killing. Shooting an animal and having to track it for an hour or so is more suffering. I would say when a pig gets the jolt at the top of the shute and doesn't die until after bleeding out a bit (which is after the other guy stabs it in the neck) it's more suffering.

If her goal was torture, why not set one on fire? Bite a head off? What if someone tricked her into being filmed doing a regular farm chore because they wanted 4chan to be their personal army?
