right back at you.
So, you have faith in ping pong? Peaking early I see.
certainly more faith in ping pong than the US government/military.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

At this point, the jury is still out. At this point, arguably Europe is in brief lull. Criminy, genocide and ethnic cleansing in Europe was 15 years ago.

I also wouldn't really call the pentagon attack a civilian target.
The people on the plane were civilians... unless it was actually a missile of some sort. :ask:

The US may attack civilians, but it is not official policy to do so. At least we consider it an unfortunate and dirty part of what we do and not the main point of it.

Here's the question that concerns me though, which outcome of the Afghanistan war will make it easier for them to give secular democratic socialism a try some day? The hyper-capitalism we'll probably leave there will set them on a more hopeful course than some fretful would-be alpha males too frightened of women to let them go to school acid free.

We might be imperialist, but so are the Islamists. We just happen to be better at it.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Not official policy? Now you're just talking semantics. When you say "we consider it an unfortunate and dirty part of what we do and not the main point of it." who is "we"? Perhaps thats what the populations WANT to believe, but that's about it.

If this is the standard of reasoning you're offering then there's nothing more to see here.

Yes, and as we become more globalised, better educated, more democratised it gets more peaceful. I'm inclined think there is a connection.

I take it the "military men" are in with the "most people are stupid" group.

Ok, look at the US civilian/military casualties and compare that to Al Quaida's. Shit, alot of those imported Mujahideen were previously jailed in their own countries for domestic terrorism. However fucked up capitalism is, and I grant it can be VERY fucked up and heinous, it pales in comparison to these Islamists.
