The Greatst Film Icons

I'm working on this little project I've set myself, and I need to pick four of the greatest film icons to use in it.

The criteria I'm using to select them:

• They must be truly iconic characters and recognisable by everyone.
• There must be at least one really good picture of the character.
• They must represent a broad spread of characters across film history (not evenly spread, but certainly not all from recent times).
• They must work well together as a group (visually).

Initially, my first thought was to use:

• Charlie Chaplin - The Tramp
• Audrey Hepburn - Holly Golightly (Breakfast at Tiffany's)
• Clint Eastwood - The Man With no Name (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly).
• Heath Ledger - The Joker (The Dark Knight)
