I love Ghost World :(
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

That was the point of the show.

Reminds me of when my high school English teacher lent me his prized collection of American Splendor. After I read through them, he asked me what I thought. "I dunno, dude.* There's, like, no point to them at all."
He got very excited. "I know!" he said, "That's the point!"

*Okay, so we didn't say "dude" back then. Fuck you.

I'm not very violent. Dramatic, yes, but not violent. I do not like the idea of killing others over different ideas. They got communism? Let 'em have communism. They got terrorism? Let 'em have terrorism (they're all bound to die off anyways, obviously). They got different religions?? Let 'em have different religions. We gotta stop interfering with this bullshit.

England once fought a war against France that lasted over 100 years. Happy days.

England and France were always at each other's necks for no reason really. I'm not surprised.

So let's say - just as an example - that half of the states in the USA vote that homosexuals should be allowed to marry and then, due to religious reasons, the other half decide to outlaw homosexuality and enforce compulsory 'conversion' of gays with the castration penalty for refuseniks. A civil war then breaks out - still too blasé to interfere? What if the anti-gay states start winning the war, due - in part at least - to the indifference of its opponents? How far from your front door before you start to fight? Or would you simply pass as straight and put your gayness down to some childish whim?

Now pretend you were black - and it was 1860 - and you lived in Kentucky, or Missouri - teetering right on the edge of the conflict. Do you see now how people can justify wars? It is easy to be a pacifist when nobody is trying to cut off your balls, remove your right vote or steal the bread from your children's mouths. We all have our tipping points though - what's yours?

Actually, I'm talking about interfering with another country, with a whole different style of government, ethics, principles, etc. You're talking about civil wars, which are different in my case. Even though I wouldn't join in the war, I'd just cheer on because I'm a pussy.

They are different, why? Because you are close enough to them for them to affect you directly? Pacifism is a luxury bought for you by the willingness of others to fight on your behalf. War should be a tactic of last resort, I agree, but ruling it out of the list of options is not yet possible for any state.
