From all accounts it would be only mild, although with Delta, he could still be infectious for a period of time. Until a population has 90% vaccination, including children, there will still be a need for a variety of public health measures and restrictions. Even after that, it would probably be a good idea to wear masks in crowded indoor settings, and shun the unvaccinated morons...

Yep but absolute facts. 19 out the 20 who end up in hospital are not fully vaccinated. Simple hard fact or not. Binary surely.

Re: Vaccination: mandated and/or incentivised
That seems to imply that 1 out of 20 who are hospitalised are vaccinated. As 9B said, a matter of probabilities. But certainly a vastly improved health outcome via vaccination...

Unvaccinated people will not be able to enter restaurants, bars and other hospitality venues once NSW begins opening up after reaching a 70 per cent vaccination rate, under a proposal being considered by the state government.
Consultation with industry groups is under way to discuss the option to require all hospitality staff and patrons to prove they have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine when NSW reopens.

You cant say that. 1 in 20 has other reasons for being in hospital associated with Covid. The patient can be vaccinated but it has not worked for instance. Another subjective option.

That happens here already. You dont need two doses of Janssen to be fully vaccinated.JimC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:38 pmhttps://www.theage.com.au/politics/nsw/ ... 58mjk.html

Vaccination is not 100% certain to prevent you becoming really sick after catching the virus. As you said, "The patient can be vaccinated but it has not worked", which simply means that a small number of people have only a weak immune response to being vaccinated, and are therefore vulnerable. But this is a trivial argument - we both agree that vaccination is the way forward, it reduces both the chance of catching the virus and passing it on (this protecting the community), and greatly reduces the potential harm if you do catch it.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:39 pmYou cant say that. 1 in 20 has other reasons for being in hospital associated with Covid. Re: Vaccination: mandated and/or incentivised
Having made the post above, I'm wondering if there is any way of testing the antibody response in people a couple of weeks after being fully vaccinated. Perhaps this could identify the small number of people with a weak response, and they could be advised to take greater precautions...

He's feeling shit, but says it's not as bad as the first case. He wears a mask the entire time he's at work, practices as much social distancing as is possible when you're cutting people open, and is religious about disinfecting. Unfortunately his wife has it also, and she's 8 months pregnant and unvaccinated (they won't vaccinate pregnant people and she has auto-immune issues to boot). We're hoping she manages to keep the baby.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
