The point you keep missing is that Fox News is the BIGGEST corporate media. When you refer to corporate media, you conveniently don't seem to include them in your calculation. You are only interested in rubbishing the left/centre media.

Keeping an open mind is not being "timid". I certainly don't take a firm position, unless I find an argument very convincing.

My firm position is that Faux News is for twats. That doesn't mean that I automatically disagree with everything they say.

In this case we already agree that mainstream media is untrustworthy.

If Reuters, Associated Press, ABC Australia, France 24, CBS News, BBC News, NYT, and PBS Newshour all report a story in roughly the same way, then the reporting is probably trustworthy in most cases. This notion that you can't believe anything you see or hear is exactly what propagandists and authoritarians want you to think.

I agree, but what concerns me is people buying into the idea that we can't ever trust the press and that it's all garbage and therefore pointless to even pay attention. Draw your information from a variety of the most trustworthy sources you can find, and you can kind of get a reasonably accurate picture of the what's happening in the world. A free press is important, and it's not like we have another option...

And for god's sake, the LAST thing you want to do is go to Project Veritas for information...

My daily newspaper; De Volkskrant. Other left biased newspapers are the Parool and the Groen Amsterdammer. There is plenty of choice. We have one right wing rag; de Telegraf which is more to the Daily Mail and is a populist paper. It supported the NSB'ers in the second world war. The right wing quality liberal (our liberal is right winged) the Nieuwe Rotterdamse Courant or NRC and is considered the businessman's paper. We dont have a newspaper that follows a political party. The NRC tends to be the VVD (Conservatives and Rutte's party) paper but it can also criticise the party vehemently. Media here does tend to in general have a left wing bias. The Dutch News which is in English is very right wing but that is such a minority paper even the ex-pats give it little attention. Our public broadcasting stations also have a left wing middle of the road bias. There are very left wing broadcasters (the Dutch system is complicated) such as the VPRO which is very progressive.

A true left wing bias would involve consistent argument to overthrow capitalism and nationalise the means of production. I suspect your outlets are mild, slightly left of centre organisations with a generally progressive agenda, but basically comfortable wit the northern European style of social democracy, with its meld of free enterprise and welfare state...
