You really must disabuse yourself of this silly idea that veg*ns are required to replace meat in their diet with some readymade fake-meat substitute, the majority of which are actually created for and advertised to meat eaters as a healthy alternative.

I think it is a real mixture. Here, we have 2 gay guys doing an interesting cooking program for vegans. Quite a lot of the food they make is some form of substitute for dairy, eggs or meat. For example, they do the meringue thing out of bean water, veggie burgers, non-dairy nut creams, and the other day they made a really complicated and realistic-looking pate. But they are making these things from scratch from basic ingredients, not using commercial "meat lookalikes"

Yes, that was my point, but I emphasised that some substitutes can involve complex cooking and excellent, fresh ingredients, rather than commercial, processed stuff. Personally, when I eat vegetarian, which is at least half the time, I make no effort to mimic any particular meat dish.

And he praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for not allowing "this nation of 10 million people to be changed forever by people we didn't invite in and who are coming here illegally".

To make sure his US viewers understood his message, he contrasted Mr Orban's policies with those of US President Joe Biden.

"Because the lessons are so obvious, and such a clear refutation to the policies we currently have, and the people who instituted those policies, Hungary and its government have been ruthlessly attacked and unfairly attacked: 'It's authoritarian, they're fascists…' There are many lies being told right now, that may be the greatest of all."

Carlson is attending a three-day festival organised by the Matthias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) in Esztergom, the former Hungarian capital and home of the Roman Catholic Church.

MCC is an extremely well-funded school for top students, whom Mr Orban's Fidesz government are carefully grooming to become the country's new right-wing elite. Both Carlson and Mr Orban are due to address the crowds from the main stage.

I think Carlson is a bit challenged geographically. That wall is on the borders with Serbia and Croatia, right? It's what, 200K?

The border between the US and Mexico is over 3000K, and Texas alone is 2000K.
