Firstly, to give the lie to your sarcastic claim that progressives think that "only the right is terrible" it is well known and accepted that many segments of the left in the past were violent monsters, who were sure that the ends justified any means whatsoever, and who morphed with frightening ease into totalitarian states.

Secondly, some left-anarchist groups in recent times have been irresponsibly violent. I'm thinking in particular of the anti-globalism protestors, who seemed to actively enjoy violent property destruction for its own sake.

Thirdly, antifa is largely a reactive force, who deploy as a counterweight to neo-Nazi rallies. They too are prone to excess violence at times, but largely against their alt-right street opponents rather than anyone else.

Fourthly, tell me (with evidence) which governments support antifa...

Many of these local organizations follow conflicting ideologies. Some are even enemies with each other. Most people participating in Antifa are not organized.
