A couple who named their baby after Adolf Hitler and were members of a banned neo-Nazi group in Britain have been jailed for more than 10 years combined.
Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, were sentenced to six-and-a-half and five years respectively at Birmingham Crown Court after a jury found them guilty of being members of National Action, which was banned in Britain in 2016.

A CHILDREN’S SPEECH PATHOLOGIST who has worked for the last nine years with developmentally disabled, autistic, and speech-impaired elementary school students in Austin, Texas, has been told that she can no longer work with the public school district, after she refused to sign an oath vowing that she “does not” and “will not” engage in a boycott of Israel or “otherwise tak[e] any action that is intended to inflict economic harm” on that foreign nation. A lawsuit on her behalf was filed early Monday morning in a federal court in the Western District of Texas, alleging a violation of her First Amendment right of free speech.

It's not illegal to use the n-word here, so nobody's whining that they can't call them that anymore. It's been socially unacceptable in most of the population to "call" someone the n-word for something on the order of 75 to 100 years.
Good for her. That is a major issue, and it sounds like she should prevail. Similar laws exist in other states, like New York State (signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo). They appear to me to be unconstitutional violations of the First Amendment, as the State is plainly not only dictating what they can't say, but they are dictating what they must say - dictating their political opinions. The assistant principal has been suspended.The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia is taking action after a transgender student at Liberty High School said he was encountered by an assistant principal in the school’s boys’ bathroom and barricaded there for several minutes.
Michael Critchfield, a sophomore at Liberty, said the incident happened during an after-school event on Nov. 27.
Students, who were leaving on a band trip, were told to use the restrooms before boarding the buses to Morgantown, and Critchfield chose to use the boys’ restroom, as that is the gender with which he identifies.
“There were not many people there since it was after school and all that was there were probably sports teams, late buses and band students,” he said. “I had checked to see if anyone was at the urinal, and I looked to see if there was a bag there. If there was a bag, I would have walked in with my head down, or I would have waited until someone came out and then I would’ve gone in.”
The school’s assistant principal Lee Livengood entered the restroom and asked if anyone was still in the bathroom. Critchfield said he responded “yes,” and Livengood remained in the bathroom until he came out of the stall.
“He kept asking me why I was in there. [He said] I shouldn’t be in there because I am not a guy, and I told him I am a boy, I identify with this bathroom, and it is my legal right to use this restroom,” Critchfield said.
Critchfield said Livengood harassed and intimidated him, ultimately challenging him to use a urinal to prove he was a boy.
“He was blocking the doorway so I couldn’t get out because if I tried to get out through the doorway he was in front of, he could’ve said that I hit him or something and got me in more trouble,” Critchfield said. “I was barricaded in the bathroom for three or four minutes, and then a band mom was coming down complaining that they could hear Mr. Livengood yelling at me in the bathroom from the cafeteria, from the hallways, and some could hear it from the band room so she came down to see what was wrong.”
At the end of the exchange, Livengood said to Critchfield, “Not going to lie. You freak me out,” in front of the other students and the chaperone,” Critchfield said.

Dr Carl’s crime is that he has defended intelligence researchers who’ve written about the taboo topics of race, genes and IQ and argued that stifling debate in these areas is likely to cause more harm than allowing them to be freely discussed by academics. It appears to be this, and the fact that he spoke at the London Conference of Intelligence in 2017 alongside some of these researchers (although he did not himself speak about race, genes or IQ at that conference), that is the basis for the accusation, made in the letter, that he is guilty of “pseudoscientific racism.”
One of the signatories is Professor David Graeber, the anthropologist and left-wing political activist, who described Dr Carl on Twitter as a “very creepy ‘race scientist’.” When asked to justify this accusation of racism and clarify what aspects of Dr Carl’s research he found “methodologically flawed,” he replied: “that’s easy. The concepts “race” “genetic intelligence” and “criminality” are all concepts with at best questionable scientific validity, so any study that assumes all 3 as unproblematic is so wildly methodologically flawed that one can only assume a racist motive in the author.”
Accusing a young scholar of “psuedoscientific racism,” and claiming his work is “ethically suspect” and “methodologically flawed,” is not something that should be done lightly, given the likely impact on his career. So for a group of over 300 academics to sign their names to this charge sheet without appearing to have conducted even the most cursory examination of Dr Carl’s work is an absolute scandal. These are trumped up charges, brought against Dr Carl because he dissents from the prevailing orthodoxy about a controversial field of academic research. He hasn’t even waded into these dangerous waters himself—he has just defended the right of academics to do so. But that alone is enough for a group of his colleagues to attempt to ruin him. So much for the principles of academic freedom and open inquiry, not to mention diversity, tolerance and inclusion. This is academic McCarthyism.
