Europe wants the UK in. Even if the UK demands to be "special", have exceptions others do not have. I would like to think its potential victory for both as this is not zero-sum game where for one to win the other has to lose.

For several reasons. The UK makes EU stronger. The UK leaving could have consequences for the EU. Maybe Scotland would want to separate again, maybe others would. Separatist tendencies are not welcome in the EU (see Spain vs Basque for example). The UK is part of the so-called Anglo-saxon world, from our perspective for example, and her close relationship with the USA is important to us. The UK is nuclear power. There are surely pragmatic reasons, but to me .. its just fun to make fun of them

I've always been pro-europe, and still am in theory.

But I'm voting for out, and I think it doesn't actually matter WHAT Cameron got or didn't get, or what he recommends. I think the vote will be to leave.

If he thought we should stay, he should never have offered the referendum. A proper leader doesn't ask the troops what to do.
Europe is gradually turning to shit before our eyes, and we are better off out.

If it ever gets it's act together, it might be worth keeping in touch.

That might be true.
Scotland will vote mostly to stay in. But the rest of the UK is probably in favour of exit at the moment. And I don't think they will care much whether Scotland goes or stays.
I'm not so sure that Scotland would vote for independence, even if we exit. It's not exactly connected to Europe, except through England.

I'd say, come referendum day, it will be on a knife-edge. But the bookies have it 3/10 odds-on we'll stay, so you have probably got it right.

While there are some irreductible euroskeptics, I'm curious how many britons will let the pleadings of cameron sway their opinions.

The sceptics tend to be the most outspoken and voluble. I get a sense that there is a quiet majority in favour of staying. I certainly hope so.
