Hehe, it's starting to get funny on Australian social media. Those not familiar with our insane asylum seeker procedures probably won't get the joke... But there's plenty of posts flying around suggesting Malaysia will have to wait for the government's weekly briefing of "on-water matters" to find out if the wreckage there is their plane. Either that, or wait till we tow it back to Indonesia and dump the problem on them.

I was gobsmacked at something someone just said. There are two ''black boxes'', one records flight data, and the other, the CVR, is the cockpit voice recorder.

The CVR is required to record the last THIRTY MINUTES minimum, with most recording the last two hours of voice data from the cockpit.

What the fuck?????? This is absolutely bugger all. A little standard 100 gig solid state hard disk will record about 2,000 hours of good quality, and cost about fifty pounds. If you had four separate streams, it would still record 500 hours. 2 hours is pathetic. My usb memory stick would be more use.

The last two hours are probably going to be useless on this plane, unless the person flying it decides to give a running commentary.
