If I'm going to serve the Queen (on a silver tray, I'm assuming), I'll need to know what she likes first. Tea? Crumpets? :dunno:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

As for the oath, it seems a step in the right direction.

What do Girl Guides and Brownies do in the U.K. anyway? Here, they don't seem to do much except sell cookies :ask:

Sisterji got kicked out of the Brownies for telling Brown Owl to fuck off.

They don't make the cookies? I imagined a cookie factory with free child labor.

My daughter was in scouts but never sold much cookies. In h.s. she was in Venture Scouts where boys and girls finally meet. She says they made cookies and ate them.

Not sure where you get that from. The only time I remember needing to was in elementary school and my mom told me I didn't have to since I was not comfortable pledging allegiance to a flag or country (I just put my hand on my heart and was quiet). So yeah, this has nothing to do with UK vs America (btw, if I have a child they would be a British citizen). I wouldn't be comfortable with my child pledging allegiance to any president, leader, or country, because I am not myself, even though I'll have to say the words one day to become a citizen (never had to in order to become a U.S. citizen since I was by birth).
Hell, I never pledge to the flag in 20 year in the Navy. :smug:

Me neither. If I was outside near a flagpole at either 8am or sunset I'd have to stand and salute while the anthem played over a loudspeaker. But that's just a show of respect; pledging allegiance is a bit different, and I haven't done that since elementary school.

I pledge defiance to the flag of the United Snakes of Captivity
And to the Republic for which it stands, I dip it in kerosene, and stick it up the ass of you know who and light it
One nation, under God--or else
One nation, under psychopath Pentagon gangsters, whose idea of democracy is concentration camps for the people who go and use the drugs that the government supplies themselves
One nation, under Wall Street:
If the cops and the President are all criminals, I might as well be one too, ha ha!
One Nation of tabloid robots who actually believe what they see on tv, but when ask about it say “I don’t care.”
One nation, drowning in its own garbage
Indivisible from the from the fall of Rome
With liberty and justice for all who can afford it

I'd like to serve the Queen on a silver platter, roasted with an apple in her mouth.

I prefer the Oz Guides oath, far more reasonable. Pledging to serve the Queen is anachronistic wankery, as is the concept of royalty.

Hey! I take issue with that! :lay:
