the youngest person ever to win the Victoria Cross was a powder monkey too.. 15 I believe he was.. this is from memory.. look it up

I remember something similar, so I'll believe you. They had a hard life, but it beat living in a cave under London I guess. Less chance of getting murdered in your sleep for the rags on your back.

I liked the movie, but to me, it still paled in comparison to the magnificent series of books...

I like to say that "it was a movie about the world the author created". Like LOTR, there's no way a movie can get more than the flavor of a book. That's why I like to project books on the inside of my skull and watch the book that way.
