It's not the case, even though it may seem to be, because the citizens of other countries have no way at all to enforce ANY change to the form or detail of a government which they have allowed to disarm them...if those in power choose not to honor the written social contract and choose instead to cling to power and abuse the unarmed citizenry to benefit themselves, as every tin-pot dictator in history has done.

You just don't think it can happen to you. But then again, nobody is tyrannized and oppressed because they thought it was going to happen, they are all taken by surprise, and force, because they are not skeptical enough of those in power to retain the ultimate safeguard against t;yranny; their personal arms.

The thing about an armed citizenry is that the law abiding elements (who are the only ones affected by gun control laws) are perfectly harmless to the community unless and until there's some emergency that requires them to take up arms together. This is proven by the fact that there are close to 300 million firearms in circulation in the US, with hundreds of thousands entering circulation every year, and only the tiniest fraction, in the thousandths of a percent of all those guns are ever used to commit crimes or even the cause of accidental harm.

Despotism and tyranny can come from either direction. It's all equally bad. Pointing out the nature of majoritarian tyranny does not impeach the nature of imperial tyranny.

Depends on the nature of the change I suppose. But, nobody said it was easy to fight majoritarian tyranny. Not coming off well at all. Their all-or-nothing attitude is a disgrace. They're against women having an abortion if their child has a fatal abnormality. A woman here is talking about having to go to England to get an abortion when her child was diagnosed as anencephalic and saying that Malta and Ireland are the only countries in Europe where women are made to carry these children through, that if she was in Poland or Belguim or anywhere else she would get it done and the anti-abortionist says, "Yes, but all those countries are countries which don't repect life"!
