it's odd if you only hear of it in a vacuum, completely stripped of its context. As I pointed out, posters here aren't allowed to attack one another personally, either.

Graculus, I appreciate that you are trying your best and was giving you the benefit of the doubt but seriously? I'm the only one claiming that?

Did you read your own fucking post above?

You are claiming to speak on behalf of women. Not some women, not feminists, not A=, women.

Given your failure to comprehend even that, even that. I'd say we're done. Keep typing the good fight.

No, like I said, I have read everything Surly Amy said about it. I know the context. Even in context it is not harassment. What about the context makes you think it's harassment? And, unless the woman wearing the t-shirt had something to do with the context you're referring to, it wouldn't be harassment by her, would it? It's not her responsibility to make sure Surly Amy isn't having a bad time of it, and govern her clothing choices accordingly.

Saying "I am not a Skepchick" is no more a personal attack of Surly Amy than a book entitled "I am not a Christian" is a personal attack on Pat Robertson.

You keep squirming around with this context bit -- we all know the context. We're just not going to keep repeating all the things Surly Amy was upset about. The context doesn't change the fact that it wasn't harassment then, and it isn't harassment now. And, the Skepchicks are not shy about "personally attacking" other people anyway, and you know it. It's in poor taste to give no quarter, and then ask for it.

Fuck, one of the whole points of Atheism Plus is that they think, as Carrier said, it's a MORAL IMPERATIVE to personally attack those that espouse the views antithetical to Atheism Plus -- you folks don't need the douchebags and the assholes, right? Well, this sort of thing cuts both ways. You don't get to claim a preferred position, that you are advocating the right and good, and therefore it's not fair to ridicule you, but that it's definitely fair to ridicule "the douchebags and the assholes."

Well, if that's the kind of representation they're getting...

I asked a question I could have googled, true enough. But I was also giving you an opportunity to provide your choice of link and perhaps quote from it so people casually reading the thread would be exposed. I honestly never heard of Upskirt Camera Guy TBH.

BTW, I have it on good authority that Elevator Guy was actually planning on... trying to sell her AMWAY. :o
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I think it's safe to say when most members here are just asking questions they genuinely are asking a question. Welcome to the forum! May I suggest you check out the rest of it as well while you are here and get to know the locals? We really are a nice group of people contrary to what popular opinion may say!
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

^^ What Twofy said. I'd say a lot of us try to be pretty genuine here and, even if we don't hold the same opinions, we like to simply converse. Sometimes a question is just a question.

I have been. reading on the other forums, I mean. There are nice people here, but not much red meat. I think we're generally in agreement on the undesirability of religion & Velikovsky & the desirability of bacon

As you are so aware of the context, you know that Carrier was taken to task by other FtBers & A+ers, & he apologized & retracted it?

Where specifically did I re-define harassment as "felony-level assault reported to the police"?

I think the title of this thread should be changed. "Attract" must surely be a migroaggression, no?
