Many American Muslim women CHOOSE to wear the hijab or burka even though they are not required to do so by any law or authority. Many Muslim women appreciate that by dressing modestly and covering themselves they can avoid the pressures of being subject to rude sexist behavior by men in public, so they make the voluntary choice to cover up.

I see absolutely nothing whatever wrong with that attitude, so long as it's entirely voluntary.
