Where else could you go from the taste of raw egg to licking marmalade off tits in such a short space of time?

That's probably one of the silliest things I have read this week.Paco wrote:Understatement of the century.Bella Fortuna wrote:Got that right!AshtonBlack wrote:(I'm a lot more hyper in RL, though.)![]()
I'd say my on-line persona and RL one are close but I think I am better at socialising in RL, I don't feel that my personality comes through that well on-line and I probably get viewed as boring by a lot of people (especially when people who have met me say I'm "nice" which translates as dull).
Have you read Exi's posts about him thinking he's sexy?ryøkan wrote:That's probably one of the silliest things I have read this week.Paco wrote:Understatement of the century.Bella Fortuna wrote:Got that right!AshtonBlack wrote:(I'm a lot more hyper in RL, though.)![]()

Oh, but I'm used to that. That underlined sentence exceeds in silliness everything Exi has written this week.Paco wrote:Have you read Exi's posts about him thinking he's sexy?ryøkan wrote:That's probably one of the silliest things I have read this week.Paco wrote:Understatement of the century.Bella Fortuna wrote:Got that right!AshtonBlack wrote:(I'm a lot more hyper in RL, though.)![]()

I know exactly what you mean here (I think) whenever I'm walking around the city or on the bus, whatever, I find myself doing a lot of people watching. Most people do live their lives in an ignorant haze where they just seem to plod along unaware of themselves or their surroundings and so I do see a lot of them as pointless. Every now and then though, you do see someone who looks like they're actually thinking. I like it when I spot someone like that.Manofnofaith wrote:Well, personally I come off as more extroverted than I am in real life. Very true. Smart people have very deep and developed opinions sometimes, and because they hold them so strongly, can seem like really arrogant bastards, like a crow that sits on top of a tree and mouths off to everyone he can see. I also think that the membership has been self-selected somewhat to contain basically the smartest and funniest people, and as a result, we don't seem to have as many of the wallflower types as on Rd.net.Paco wrote:Something I've come to think is that the people who are drawn in to RDF and by extension here, are the people who have spent a lot of time merely being introspective and as a result they are interesting for it. I don't want to do any smug, elitist stuff like linking atheism with intelligence but if you were to take a cross section of the IQs of our membership and compare it to the general public I wouldn't be surprised if there is a noticeable difference in our favour. This might also account for why there are as many conflicting personalities, whenever so many strong willed people are jammed together in the one place there are always going to be confrontations.
I would say that RD.net has more of a constriction on the emphasis of intelligence than this place. Over there it does feel like you have to be intelligent all the time and make an effort with posts or you'll be pounced upon and shamed as an idiot. That's why I have difficulty posting regularly on RDF, too many people try and give of the perception of intelligence to try and fit in but they just end up sounding like cunts. There are a lot of genuinely smart people there though and that's why I think it is a vital resource in general, real time peer reviewManofnofaith wrote:I know exactly what you mean. Ashton Black wrote:"Dogma is the enemy, not religion, per se. Rationality, genuine empathy and intellectual integrity are anathema to dogma."
I've met enough clever theists and stupid atheists to know that what you're saying is right, my point was more that the atheists who find their way onto RDF are more than likely going to be intelligent because they wouldn't be there if they hadn't thought it through.AshtonBlack wrote:There is a statistical correlation (though with other factors, I'm sure) between intelligence (as a definition I'm including emotional intelligence too) and a lack of belief in god or gods. But like all things with reference to people, it's a shifted bell curve, so we can expect clever theists and stupid atheists as well. (I will dig out the study, if required.)
