They closed a HUGE Chrysler plant here in St. Loser, putting tens of thousands of people out of work. I guess it was their fault they're unemployed?

Their fault for doing a kind of job that's going the way of the dodo.

So they should have quit and got a meaningful job? Just drop the job and try to find a new one? Hopefully they didn't have a family to support.Svartalf wrote:Their fault for doing a kind of job that's going the way of the dodo.
(I do think you were being snarky, but we know there are people here who would say such bullshit in all earnestness.)

Just out of curiosity, would you hire more people than necessary and pay them more than you had to?MattShizzle wrote:It IS succesful peoples' fault when they hire as few people as possible and pay next to nothing in order to be succesful. That is true, Bachman, Perry, Cain, Paul -- nuts. Romney is o.k., and Huntsman is a good guy. The rest of 'em are douchebags. But, they they hardly beat the train wreck that is the Obama Administration. The wheels are flying off that bus....Ian wrote:Another whack job GOP candidate in a field loaded with them. Re: Herman Cain: It's Your Fault if You're Unemployed
I've never even seen a Godfather's pizza establishment. Papa John's sucks ass, but so do all "national chains," so I can't dispute that Papa Johns might be the best national chain. I think I like Pizza Hut better than Papa John's, but I don't willingly eat at either one. I go to non-chain pizzerias run by Italians that make northeast style pizza - thin crust, foldable, greasy pizza... nom. I contemplate murdering anyone who suggests "California Pizza Kitchen..."Ian wrote:Godfather's Pizza, which I've never tried.
Papa John's is by far the best of the national chains. Although John Schnatter donated money to Rand Paul last year, so it now grieves me to order his delicious pizza.

Beheading is in order, methinks.Clinton Huxley wrote:You ask for less cheese??MattShizzle wrote:One of my pet peeves is how in the last decade or so pizza has changed to have a shit ton of cheese and barely any sauce. Also, very thin crust. I always ask for it with extra sauce and light cheese. Back in the 70s and 80s and even 90s there was way more sauce and less cheese. Not a cost thing as the cheese is actually the most expensive ingredient.
Seize him!
Extra cheese, sausage, fresh garlic, onions, green peppers, and if possible, as the lovely Bella suggested, extra sauce. Crushed red pepper flakes liberally sprinkled on top. Thin crust, preferably.

There is a very simple way to tell if the pizza place is worth anything. Check out how they serve the sausage on their pizzas. If the sausage is crumbled up pieces of sausage like hamburger meat, then run, do not walk, run, out the door. A good pizza place will use real Italian sausage either sliced in little circles like pepperonis, or -- preferably - sliced the long ways so the sausage is in strips on the pie.
And, pizza is "pie." If the pizzeria doesn't call their pizza "pie," then it's not real pizza.

Some good places use the "crumbled up" sausage. They just cut it out of the skin.

Re: Herman Cain: It's Your Fault if You're Unemployed
Not talking about hiring people just to sit there - but they shouldn't be allowed to force their workers to do the work of 8 or more people. They should hire enough people to do the job without being overwhelmed and pay a living wage. Minimum wage should be at least $11/hr.Coito ergo sum wrote:Just out of curiosity, would you hire more people than necessary and pay them more than you had to?MattShizzle wrote:It IS succesful peoples' fault when they hire as few people as possible and pay next to nothing in order to be succesful. The one I know of in St. Loser is in a mall, no idea how they're doing business-wise, but they've had none of our money. (I only notice because it's next to Buns & Nibbles, aka "Mr. Zilla, we found your wife!")Bella Fortuna wrote:Funny you mention them because everyone seems to love them and I just don't get it.Coito ergo sum wrote:I contemplate murdering anyone who suggests "California Pizza Kitchen..."On the way to work today I noticed that a CPK that opened recently has now closed - first time I've seen that happen!

Re: Herman Cain: It's Your Fault if You're Unemployed
Are they forcing their people to do the work of 8 people? I've been working for three decades. Trust me, most people do not do the work of one person, let alone 8.MattShizzle wrote:Not talking about hiring people just to sit there - but they shouldn't be allowed to force their workers to do the work of 8 or more people.Coito ergo sum wrote:Just out of curiosity, would you hire more people than necessary and pay them more than you had to?MattShizzle wrote:It IS succesful peoples' fault when they hire as few people as possible and pay next to nothing in order to be succesful. Why not $15 an hour?MattShizzle wrote:

Look - minimum wage is for kids. If you're an adult (other than, maybe, a college person flipping burgers part time) and earning less than $11 an hour, then you should be embarrassed. A person should NOT be paid $11 to take my money at the drive through. Fuck that. That work is not worth it. And, if a high school kid is breaking boxes and sweeping up at the corner store 10 hours a week during high school, it's not worth $11 an hour.
