Christian names, Atheist names ?
Why name your kids after saints, now that we know that they were just deluded?
Maybe someone's already done a thread, but if not, post your ATHEIST NAMES suggestions here, to help when some atheist drops a sprog.
Darwin and Mendel are two obvious ones. They may not sound like "christian names" but they will once people get used to them.
My first invention is Evo, for a boy.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
Re: Christian names, Atheist names ?
I wouldn't say atheit names. Maybe secular names is more appropriate. There's no names I can think of which = atheism. Even 'Evo' is science related. Evolution does not equal atheism and only a creationist trying to poison the well would say it does.

Re: Christian names, Atheist names ?
My biblical character was pretty stupid. I would have preferred to be Vesa, a more Finnish name, not Esa. (Tero is middle name).
Throughout Genesis, Esau is frequently shown as being supplanted by his younger twin Jacob.
Neither of our kids have biblical names, though they probably have some other culture background. We did not feel like inventing names. Both names are unisex. Both end in y. By the Dave Barry rule, Jerry could become CEO, Jerri only executive secretary.

My name is actually Greek in origin, not Christian at all. It's a fairly popular name, not as much as John or Steven, but up there.

Re: Christian names, Atheist names ?
My name's Jewish. Not Christian (so is John). Quite apt it is too

I think when people talk about your Christian name they mean the name you were christened with as opposed to having a Christian origin, ie - your first or given name. After all, except the name, Christian, are there actually any Christian names?

Both mine have names you'll find in the Bible. It was a conscious decision - not because of the biblical connections, but because they are "solid" names that everyone is familiar with, but that weren't particularly popular at the time.

Of course they've been co-opted for use in the fictional accounts of the bible. I'm sure most of the New Testament characters were named using contemporaneous names for the times and locales in which they were penned. They're now considered 'Christian'.
Technically my name is a character from the bible, happily a minor one.

Also, for the OP, Darwin and Mendel were surnames.
Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel.
