NOTMOD Seth has been suspended for a period of not less than 4 million shakes for being reasonable. This is a blatant attempt to systematically troll the game and furthermore he's a very naughty boy. Please submit any questions on this decision by writing them on spherical lump of pure pu239 weighing no less than 5kg and hugging it tightly. |

Pappa, I don't think we are talking about quite the same thing(s) here: http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 50#p982835
However, I'm growing sleepy, so I don't think it is a good idea to try to sort it out now. It will keep.

I was expanding upon the small point about a member being offended... mostly just to clarify it for anyone else reading who might have been left with the impression that we act upon posts that individuals find offensive.Ronja wrote:Pappa, I don't think we are talking about quite the same thing(s) here: http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 50#p982835

I take from it that you distanced yourself from the "jackboot" charge* while allowing mods to apply theirs on your behalf? Some libertarian you are.Seth wrote:I think you have it. *the whole "jackboot" notion is a metaphor ... That only Schneib was cautioned for using it, particularly in the context of mutual pejoratively expressed disagreement between he and seth, is something that could be addressed if staff are interested in being even handed. Personally, I'm for ditching the nanny mentality and encouraging members to take responsibility for their own feelings. I've done it ... it's not that fucking difficult.

Hey, I'm all for that, and the "jackbooted thugs" remark would have been handled by me, but I was specifically told NOT to handle such matters myself, so I respected the "system."charlou wrote:I take from it that you distanced yourself from the "jackboot" charge* while allowing mods to apply theirs on your behalf? Ah, OK, you were talking of the actual situation on RatZ today, whereas I was extrapolating what would happen in the hypothetical situation if Schneibster's definition of "gaming the system" was taken into account. That explains the feeling of incongruence that I got, I think.Pappa wrote:I was expanding upon the small point about a member being offended... mostly just to clarify it for anyone else reading who might have been left with the impression that we act upon posts that individuals find offensive.Ronja wrote:Pappa, I don't think we are talking about quite the same thing(s) here: http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 50#p982835

Welcome relief!
