This next one is a real shame, because despite not rocketing to the top of the charts, Maria Muldaur's debut album is one of those rare 'perfect albums'. Highly recommended, if you can handle some delicious folksy twang.

In finding a video for Frida's hit, "I know There's Something Going On," I sampled a good selection of live performances. If you want to do yourself a favor, do not, I repeat, DO NOT watch this women perform live. It's like the worst of all the 80s cliches rolled into one. Ouch.

definitely bookmarking - you guys posted so many I could have posted... need to think a bit
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

When does a group or person officially become a one-hit wonder?

Re: Dexy's Midnight Runners - I always thought they had more hits in the UK. In the US they were a one-hit.

It's interesting how some artists were one-hits in one country and not in the other... I wonder what others there are. :ask: Maybe after coffee I can think of some...

do they count as one hit wonders if they were subsequently covered and also a hit, i'm thinking the Brand new heavies cover of Midnight at the Oasis (number 5 or something like that) and Doctor and the Medics Spirit in the Sky (no 1)

as far as i know the definitive one hit wonder is.

... apparently, they had a couple of other minor hits, but I reckon it's close enough for government work. :read:

One more from the early 1980's:

Since I know absolutely nothing about this band, that makes them a one-hit wonder, to me anyway. :)

Uh ... once my mind starts to work ... I inevitably go back to the mid/late 1970's:

AFAIK, none of these bands were from the UK/Ireland or even the USA, and they very likely had other hits on their home patches.

BTW, "Mississippi" was a huge #1 hit in 1976, following "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" and "Dancing Queen". Those were the days. :eddy:

I haven't heard Pussycat in 20 years or so. The pride of Limburg in those days.

I was going to post that as well last night, but I had enough to be going on with. :)

As for Pussycat, I had always assumed they were American, until I checked a couple of weeks ago.
