BTW, it's worth mentioning that I'm currently working to confirm or deny that the entire Internet is a bunch of loudmouthed cranks, other than a few beacons like Pharyngula and RealClimate.

I do hope you folks are going to be OK with this stuff appearing in the literature.

What a confusing thread. I'll admit I've had three Coronas and a bowl of fine hydro, but I think even if I was completely sober (God Forbid that should ever happen) I think I'd still be confused.

What's all the fuss about anyway? Have we been slinging poo poo? Are knickers, as we speak, spontaneously wadding? Has someone mistaken Ratz for an actual, real, adult type forum? You know, where people talk about Important and Inconvenient Things? Things like....."What does semen taste like, really?" Is that what's happened here?

Oh deary me.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

The intelligence of a committee is equal to the intelligence of the smartest member divided by the number of members.

ETA: Worth noting I suppose that the committee is the only known form of life with fifty stomachs, a hundred hands, and one brain.

Paging Seth!!!
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
-Mr P
