MSG when are you about, you're looking pretty scummy right now
Re: Mythadventures - Day 1: Mythconceptions
Interesting you should form that view, considering I voted you as mayor and have my lynch vote on a player that you put a "big fos" on earlier.

Oh, and zigmen - I never said you put a vote on diva. I notice your seeming comprehension goes squiffy when you're scum, so FoS you too.
How else was I supposed to read this:
I see zigmen's logic for his vote

Feck, are you a Jester in this game?
I'd bet $ that you are.
So, let me ask you . . .
If you were viewed on Night 2, what would your alignment be?

votes on diva?
Uselesstwit wrote:I think everyone has been pretty quiet today, the game really hasn't taken off yet. So far my main concerns are feck and irre. I really don't see the votes on diva. They seem to be based on zig's post about her being mayor voted, but it assumes that she was so terrified of one vote that she panicked, I just don't see that in her post.

Re: Mythadventures - Day 1: Mythconceptions
My initial leaning is somewhat of a mix between that of gib or Feck. There's also this from Rules & Peanuts that leads me to pause on a possible Klah team and town Deevils being too closely aligned:Feck wrote:The Bazaar is currently under the sway of the Interdimensional Mafia, who skim off an unconscionable percentage of the take. But, there's news afoot! A tatterdemailian bunch of travelers from some backwater dimension called Klah may actually have the magical wherewithal, and more importantly the sheer chutspah to send the Mafia packing.
I got the idea that traders would be town , Interdimensional Mafia, would be another team (or at least specials ) and then tatterdemailian's scum or another team .
Which further leads me to lean toward:oblivion wrote:Deva is the Merchant capital of the dimensions. It is Inhabited by the Deevils, traders supreme, along with a motley sprinkling of interdimensional travelers from near and far. if you think you've gotten a good deal from a Deevil, first count your fingers, then your limbs, then your relatives.
Town = unscrupulous Deevil merchants, neutral alignment
Indies = Klah "bunch" 'helpers' with "wherewithal" and "chutspah", good alignment
Scum = Interdimensional Mafia, evil alignment
From reading the MythAdventure comic a bit, I don't see Klahds as a second scum team, but that town Deevils paying for Klahd help against scum may not be all that worthy in the eyes of their helpers. Klahds may simply be town specials (which means the scum team is likely large - maybe 4) but it seems more likely Klahds are Indie with a win condition compatible with either town or scum (which means the scum team may be smaller - maybe 2-3). There is a possibility that scum may want to keep Klahds in the game for a while, if Klahds are a separate team.
IMO, Deevils win with Klahds, but Klahds may possibly win without Deevils, or in parity with either town or scum. If Klahds are a separate team from town, I think it likely that both town and scum are weakishly vanilla, with maybe one special apiece, if that, and even Klahd indies possibly with but one special (though I wouldn't rule out more).
But the game flavour could have been set either way. With just 2 teams the special array may be more basic, with maybe 5 (3 town, 2 scum) instead of the 2-4 I suspect. But it's maybe all WIFOM. Eradicating scum still wins the game, but depending on game flavour that may be 2 to 4, IMO. If it's 4, I don't think the GM would have been all that careful about just who they are. If it's 2, I think the GM may have been careful to make them experienced and cautious players.
Again, I'm known to make too much of game flavour, so don't get distracted if it's mostly WIFOM.

I probably need to recheck too, but I thought the only lynch vote on diva was by Mantis, which was later removed by an "unvote"?
Re: Mythadventures - Day 1: Mythconceptions
How much experience have you had with ob's games? AFAIK she doesn't hand pick roles, but uses a random selection process.grit wrote:If it's 4, I don't think the GM would have been all that careful about just who they are. As for the rest of your post, interesting thoughts ... I've been thinking about the set up too, so I don't think the speculation is wifom. My first impression, which hasn't changed, is that there's three groups: town, scum, and an indie group. Town and scum are likely straight forward, but the indie group who possess the chutzpah to drive the mafia off is going to be interesting as the game unfolds, I think.

thanks. I missed the unvote. I've corrected the count in my earlier post.grit wrote:ob,oblivion wrote:Current votes (let me know of any corrections)

Re: Mythadventures - Day 1: Mythconceptions
I agree. Offhand I've played about 8 games, with maybe 3 of them being ob teaching games. I agree that she and many GMs claim to allot roles randomly, and I try to give them the benefit of a doubt.charlou wrote:How much experience have you had with ob's games? Being careful about who's on a possibly smallish scum team and assigning specific roles randomly are not necessarily mutually exclusive principles, depending on just how random we're talking. If a GM wants a good game and a team design or two is small, the GM could both handpick the team(s) and randomise roles on the team(s). I admit it affects whom I finger, and I admit that lynching gifted players is more scummish than townish; but it gives me pause when considering just how players I consider gifted are posting in a game, especially if their post count seems low or vacant of substance.
Certain players already stand out to me in this regard, but I'm trying to maintain Day 1 patience.
