when I first answered I ws half asleep, didn't notice the bold. I'd say constructing gambits to save another scum is quite rare, though correspondingly, gambits to save oneself have been in vogue.oblivion wrote:It's not an every day occurrance, but it definitely happens occasionally. sometimes with resultst that are of a delightfulness.Bilirubin wrote:I do not want for this to get lost.Bilirubin wrote:After having read briefly the discussion that took place while I was trying to sleep I have a general question for you all. How often do scum attempt elaborate gambits like creating and reinforcing a mythical role block (but getting specific details wrong) in your games? How often do scum teammates protect each other with these gambits?

no. Feck hasn't voted for me. But, I see that he is trying to make a situation that relies on me both being scum, and at the same time - trying to look logical while doing it.Bilirubin wrote:Revenge vote?Mantisdreamz wrote:vote FeckFeck wrote:grit wrote:If Mantis is scum, which I think likely, what is to be made of this post?Mantisdreamz wrote:Definitely interesting catch with UT though.

both assume Mantis is scum .
But beyond that, Feck has been in the back of my mind, for various reasons. Him posting shortly after Diva's godkill - not really saying anything about it. And he seems less towny than others.

OK guys. So here's the real situation of what went on.
Scum blocked Oblivion. Ksen switches her and myself, so I get the block message instead. We know this.
However, as I know that I am town - and so, didn't put the night kill in .. it means that I would be dead right now. The kill wasn't blocked, because I did not put a kill in.
So being that I'm alive, that means that scum did not try to kill Ob last night. They tried to kill someone else, and that other person must have been protected. Either that, or they didn't put a kill in.
Another thing -- I can see why they might not have put in the nk for Oblivion because it's already stated that she was a mason. They were probably searching elsewhere

grit wrote:If it helps at all, I simply thought yesterday that ob was the obvious choice by scum for a NK, and it was a bit of a hint for a town doc to protect her if that could be attempted.Bilirubin wrote:Just went back over yesterday. UT contributed little of substance, and literally went for *pages* (at least 4) not realizing that a god kill occurred and nightfall had happened. That does not speak well for active scumhunting. I still do not have any idea why Feck brought up why lynching irre would clear him, or point more directly at him, or whatever. Inscrutable. Was also reminded of Grits "farewell to Ob" post. These now stand as my top suspects. Irre still does not come off well from yesterday's night chat, especially with the exchange with Ade, but I am suspending my suspicion somewhat since we have better targets in front of us, and because of the (tentative) confirmation of the block. I am assuming the probability that scum would manufacture the role blocking to clear themselves is a low probability.
Also from last night there were a couple of votes which, of course, were non-votes because it was night. Irre voted Aden, and UT voted Feck. It's that second one I wanted to note for the forming wagons on Mantis and Feck today thus far.
Probably because I didn't

Re: Starfleet Day 3
The other option is that they did try to kill oblivion but she was protected so the kill and protection went to you instead which also resulted in no NK. I can see why they'd want oblivion dead. A cleared townie oblivion is a dangerous oblivion to scum.Mantisdreamz wrote:So being that I'm alive, that means that scum did not try to kill Ob last night. Last night you had irre, Aden, and Feck atop your scum list. Early on you said if you had to vote right then you'd probably vote Feck, but you admitted a bias with you and ob usually suspicious of Feck. You said if Aden was scum then he was uberscum, and seemed to favour the prevailing irre lynch before calling it a night.
I'm probably daft, but I'm not understanding what you meant in the above post. I'd like to know your mind fuller on Feck.

No Mantis I did not make a situation that relies on you being scum Other people had assumed you were scum I merely pointed that out ....OH fuckkit I'M getting a bit bored with asking people to read my posts again .I'm getting bored with asking people to read my explanations of my posts other people only half read
Mantis you are not scum hunting you seem to be trying to get all the specials involved in Oblivion NOT being dead to declare their actions most of your recent posts have been special hunting .It is a shame Ksen outed

this analysis leaves out something interesting. the additional possibility that I was the target of a block, kill and protection as well as the busdriving. it also speaks faintly of actual knowledge of what happened last night, that knowledge being who the scumtitute actually is. I may be reading way too much subtext into this, you think?

Re: Starfleet Day 3
indeed, and there is a commonsensical order of operations involved, otherwise some actions would be all but useless.gib wrote:dpeneds on what order the night actions are processed surely?oblivion wrote:here is a countervailing thought:

busdriving/commuting/hiding take highest precedence, then blocks. after that, there is some variation but protections happen before kills. and investigation results aren't delivered until kills have been processed.

I don't feel like I have enough time to devote to the game. At best it is 4 hours a day that I can sit and read threads and think up replies, and that feels a bit short
