On the day Anthony Weiner needed his wife the most, she vanished -- poof! -- like his harem of feisty Twitter chippies during a power outage.
The gorgeous and furious Internet cuckold Huma Abedin refused yesterday to stand by her man. She did not show up to walk the plank of public humiliation, the way doormat Silda did for her whoremonger husband, Eliot Spitzer.
And she did not stand like a potted plant, cowering beneath her hair, the way wife and beard Dina did when her hub, Jim McGreevey, announced he was a "gay American."
Yesterday, the anniversary of D-Day, Weiner, 46, threw a little sneak invasion of his own. He stood behind a podium -- sobbing, blubbering and begging for forgiveness for his fetishistic fixation with phone sex, e-mail sex and sexting gross photos to a half-dozen chicks, many young enough to be his children. And Huma was gone.
"Mr. Weiner," I asked him. "Are you splitting up?"
His reply was most curious, even for a liar and cheat. He tried to avoid the question altogether.
"I love my wife very much," he said, sidestepping a direct "no."
He said he told Huma just that morning that he had, in fact, tweeted a pic of his aroused and manic manhood to a 21-year-old college student. He said she was angry. I'll bet.
But he added -- and this was a head scratcher -- that Huma, Hillary Rodham Clinton's aide, was aware of his passion for sexually titillating messages.
"My wife has known about some of these online relationships since before we were married, and we spoke frankly about them," he said.
He also said the last thing Huma told him yesterday morning was "I love you."
Finally, he said, "We have no intention of splitting up. We have no intention of splitting up."
Earth to Huma: Arrogance and a sense of entitlement doesn't vanish when a man says, "I do."
He lied to his family. He lied to his constituents. What else is he lying about to the people he serves?
Weiner continued to obfuscate on another burning question -- did he get cheap thrills preying on young or powerless women?
He refused to "characterize" phone calls he shared with his groupies. He said he had no idea of the age of his conquests.
But in his next breath, he said the women all told him they were adults. So did they give their ages or not?
This raises the question one must ask of many a Good Wife -- did Huma simply look the other way, unwilling to know what was going on in Anthony's underpants?
It was clear yesterday from her staunch refusal to play along with the sham that is her marriage that Huma, unlike her husband, is in no mood to lie about the state of her union.
Some women accept their husbands' quirky habits. Mine likes to watch football. Weiner gets his jollies sexting with women, including one to whom he wrote he had a "ridiculous bulge in my shorts now. wanna see?"
But being publicly outed as a woman scorned, whether it be online, in the flesh or on the phone, is too much to take.
See ya, lover.

But...erections have consequences...

Let us declare with certitude the obvious: Rep. Anthony Weiner has disgraced his office, and himself, and he needs to quit.
Never mind that he went before the TV cameras yesterday, cried on cue and assumed "responsibility" for a litany of offenses to common decency -- including sending lewd messages and revealing photos to young women on Twitter, and then lying about it.
Repeatedly and egregiously.
Because there is a difference between taking rhetorical responsibility for what one has done, and accepting the full consequences of those actions -- which in Weiner's case would require his resignation.

Re: Weinergate
Yes, it would. However, that's not the only relevant concern. His violation of House Ethics Rules by using his office and office equipment for these personal forays and dalliances, as well as shirking has Congressional duties are quite important. Moreover, his lying and advising/helping others to lie to engage in a cover-up is important too.Gallstones wrote:Now'd be the time to come out. Now'd be the time for the lawsuits. I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

I don't mind. But only because I'm seeing a lot of pics of Huma in the news lately. And she's fucking gorgeous.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.
