Oh, be careful Eriku, Ian's going to pop up and call you a bigot for criticizing freedomland.

Your ability to assume incorrect things is incredible. I see little problem with decriminalizing marijuana, and easing laws against other drugs as well. I'm as critical of the war on drugs as anybody around here, including the long-standing stupid and counter-productive drug policies here in freedomland.
Now, if you were to reference existing marijuana laws in the US as an excuse to say "Americans are scared of pot", then yes I'd call you a bigot. And very stupid. Just like in the Weinergate thread where you managed to deduce that "Americans are scared of sex" by referencing the blurred-out buttcracks on network-TV reality shows. Cherry-picking a few facts in order to make blanket statements against an entire society means that you are a bigot.

He only posts to prove what a raving bigot he is. So the veracity of his posts is no more important to him that Seth's "facts" are to Seth.

And when challenged, he justifies himself by insisting that he's only relaying facts. I'll bet I could some reference somewhere which shows that black men are more likely to cheat on their wives than white men (or vice versa, I dunno) and then say something along the lines of "Blacks have low moral character; they have a reputation for getting all dressed up for church every Sunday, and yet they're hypocrites who go out and cheat. No wonder their society is so messed up.". Then when someone who happens to be black has the nerve to challenge me for making such vile and ridiculous statements, I'll just show him my reference as proof of my beliefs, and I'll call him a hyper-defensive idiot who can't tolerate criticism of niggaland and naively thinks that his superior black society can do no wrong.
Sandi reminds me of Austin Powers' father: "There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the
Dutch."

no, you two keep on trucking, fucking hilarious, all wound up and defensive. Thinking you're on some high ground...don't know what that would be, but it's cracks me up.

Yeah, that's it... we're just defensive or something. You're not a hateful bigot at all. Totally enlightened and respectful of other societies, that's you.

OK, can you also admit that the US is at fault for the "war" on drugs. What about the following do you disagree with:
Yet another giant stain on the planet created by the good 'ol usa. "War" on drugs is bullshit, the americans use this as an excuse to keep poor black men in prison, to strengthen their police state, to interfere in other countries politics, to control the behavior of it's citizens and the citizens of the world, and as a giant money making scheme for the cia, the prison industry, the military, etc.
or...fuck it and just call me a bigot again

Legalize marijuana, cocaine, heroin, LSD and other drugs.
Allow licensed purveyors to sell the drugs provided they register with the FDA or equivalent non-US entity depending on where they are located. Pay a fee, pay sales taxes, and be subject to inspections, etc. Quality control the products.
However, employers should still have the right to prohibit drug use on their property, terminate employees for using drugs, or not hire those who use drugs (just like some employers are doing with regard to smokers of tobacco).

Sandi - I'm not putting on some kind of show. You really are a hateful bigot, and I'm on your case about it because you keep tarnishing this forum with your hate. Can you really and truly not see this in yourself???
I want you to seriously think about this. I doubt you will, but you really should.
I don't argue with you because I love everything about my country. Far from it. I don't. I argue because you use any excuse you find to hate everything about my country, including all sorts of paranoia and cynicism like you wrote above. Sure, I could debate that stuff, but I don't mind you debating policies. I mind you saying "americans this" and "americans that" when referring to the entire culture.
Try replacing the work "americans" with the word "blacks" or "Mexicans" the next time you want to make a blanket statement of derision against an entire culture. You may as well call me a nigger and claim you have plenty of good reason to hate blacks, and then just laugh and call me defensive about it when I reply.
YOU ARE A BIGOT. Right down to the bone. And if you think it's a laughable idea, then you're simply not thinking.

Fuck, I'm agreeing with CES!
Hang on....
Merkin drugs are vastly inferior to those found in the UK.
And you spelt "legalise" wrong...

Sandi, do you remember that time Ian wrote that he thinks the war in Iraq was a stupid idea? Do you remember him saying he thought marijuana should be legalized?
One of the biggest problems with the left these days are that they are trying too hard to stay on a moral high ground, not to lift others up to, but to look down on them from. Because once you're sure you're in the right, you don't have to think much about where you might be wrong or what common ground you might share with those who would appear to be diametrically opposed to you.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
