Scary really scary, I suppose you are allowed to drive as well?
What is it you fear?

I drive, I handle other people's money, I wield knives under certain situations, I have drugs in the house.....mine is a cornucopia of things for other people to be afraid of. :ddpan:
My wife has a serious mental illness and when she was going through a bad phase the first thing I did was take her car keys off her. Yeah I have a serious problem with suicidal people (or anyone with any mental illness) having access to any lethal weapons including cars. I could have just called up the appropiate government department and had her driving license cancelled (which they certainly would have done) but I didnt think that was neccesary.

She is now a lot better (but not cured) and driving but I wouldnt hesitate to do the same thing again

Right. And, if you wanna eat alligator meat, you should hafta wrestle one in the Bayou.

I was being more general, but why not? The ethic of hunting, generally speaking is "you kill it, you eat it." One can reverse this ethic and say "If you don't kill it, you don't get to eat it." That would eliminate a lot of dependent-class proletarian meat-sacks who couldn't kill a Twinkie without help from the convenience store clerk.

But I never said that humans are limited by way of the tools they use for killing. Our evolutionary advancements give us the ability to create weapons and thus become the master of every other animal on the planet, so our use of weapons is perfectly natural.

Offing yourself is fine with me. Although, if you're not suffering from some awful disease or disability, I think it can be a selfish thing to do because of the effect on family.
The trouble is, far too many bent on suicide seem to crave company, and take with them relatives, children, co-workers, fellow students, or random strangers.
A gun greatly facilitates this.
Seems to me a reasonable cause to keep the suicidally inclined away from firearms.

No. You shoot the alligator and the shark just as you shoot the elk, the cow or the pig.
No one is wrestling steers to death at the abattior.

It is not true that many suicides, let alone some quantitiy of "too many" crave company and take others with them. That is rare. Except in the media.

It is selfish of family to insist that a suffering person stick around just so they can feel better about things.

Pilots have heart attacks while in the air and die. Probably happens more often than there being suicide bombers aboard.
Besides, if I was in the right mood, a suicidal pilot bent on crashing would be just the ticket.

Suicide is not often the primary objective of mass killers. Revenge is. And often a narcissistic need for recognition. Death is merely the ultimate cowardice. It's how they avoid having to face up to their crimes. Whether it's death at the hands of the police, or better yet an armed victim, or at their own hands, suicide is not really the motive.
A gun greatly facilitates this.
And a gun is usually the only way of preventing or ending such attacks.
Seems to me a reasonable cause to keep the suicidally inclined away from firearms.
Probably a good idea, not that it will stop them from killing themselves. However, the implicit argument you make, that EVERYONE ought to be kept away from guns on the off chance that a very few of them might be suicidal, is specious and nonsensical, particularly in light of the fact that if a mass killer bent on suicide DOES happen to get a gun, only a gun is going to prevent him from killing as many people as he wants.

That might get you shot.
Well the person most likely to every kill you is yourself followed by a close family member especially partners.
The chances of getting killed by anyone else is trivial

Specious nonsense. Clearly you know nothing about armed self-defense or the statistics of defensive gun uses.

Quite right. I'm a firm believer in personal responsibility, personal accountability, and personal freedom. And since I have a commercial pilot's license, why shouldn't I?
