Donald Trump The Birther

TRENDING: Trump sends investigators to Hawaii to look into Obama
By: CNN Political Producer Alexander Mooney
Washington (CNN) – Self-proclaimed birther Donald Trump is now so doubtful of President Obama's birthplace that he's sent a team of his own investigators to Hawaii in hopes of getting to the bottom of the issue.
That's according to Trump himself, who, in an interview with NBC, warned his investigators just might uncover "one of the greatest cons in the history of politics and beyond."

"I have people that have been studying it and they cannot believe what they're finding," Trump said an interview that aired Thursday Morning.
Asked if he has assigned people specifically to search in Hawaii, Trump said, "Absolutely."
The business mogul, who in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll is tied for second place among potential presidential candidates, also suggested the president is involved in an ongoing cover-up over the matter.
"He spent $2 million in legal fees trying on to get away from this issue, and if it weren't an issue, why wouldn't he just solve it?" he said. "I wish he would because if he doesn't, it's one of the greatest scams in the history of politics and in the history, period. You are not allowed to be a president if you're not born in this country. Right now, I have real doubts."
According to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll, 72 percent of Americans say that the president was definitely or probably born in the U.S., with one four saying that he was definitely or probably born outside the country. But the survey indicates a partisan divide, with 43 percent of Republicans but only 11 percent of Democrats saying that Obama was definitely or probably born outside the U.S.
In 2008, the Obama campaign produced a certification of live birth that reports his birthplace as Honolulu, Hawaii – a document the Hawaii government says is official evidence of his birth in the state. Among other evidence of Obama's birth there is the fact the hospital where he was born took out ads in two Hawaiian newspapers in 1961 announcing the birth, while current Gov. Neil Abercrombie says he knew Obama's family and remembers his birth.
In the broad interview, Trump also insisted he's more serious than ever about mounting a presidential bid, but said he can't make a final decision until this season of "Celebrity Apprentice" wraps up.
"I hate to say it. I have the No. 1 show on NBC. Is that the correct statement? The "Celebrity Apprentice" is doing great," said Trump. "You're not allowed to have a show on and be a candidate. It's a great show and it's got phenomenal ratings, and until that show is over I can't declare, otherwise NBC would have to take the show off the air and that would be very unfair."

I thought Hawaii confirmed he was born there. Didn't we see a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate? I don't get it.

I saw the interview this morning. Let's see what he comes up with in his investigation.

What I don't understand is why doesn't Obama just publish the damn thing for everyone to see with someone from City Hall confirming it's the real thing?

As someone whose birthplace and citizenship has been questioned (I went through 15 years of hell with the BCIS trying to prove my past citizenship as a Vietnamese citizen to get naturalized) there's really nothing he can do to change their small minds anyway, but it's worth a try.

There were suits filed against John McCain challenging his eligibility, given that he was born in the Panama Canal Zone to military parents. LOL.

But, I have to admit, I have wondered the same thing you mentioned - if they have the birth certificate, and if they haven't shown it, why don't they?

Snopes has this copy:

So, what's the birther beef with this? Do they claim it's not a true copy? Snopes has a good debunking of the birther arguments: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/bi ... ficate.asp

The nails in the coffin to me are: (1) the birth certificate looks real and is consistent with other birth certificates at the time, (2) some folks have seen the original, (3) there were newspaper birth announcements of the birth in August 1961 in Hawaii, (4) Hawaiian officials went on record as personally verifying the records.

I mean - I'm no fan of Obama, but FFS, the guy was apparently born in Hawaii. I'm not sure what more the guy can do. He has an original birth certificate that has been verified by the State officials in Hawaii. If that's not good enough for every Tom, Dick and Harry out there, well - tough titties said the kitty.

BTW - my parents are naturalized citizens - I have a sibling that is a naturalized citizen - and SWMBO'd is a naturalized citizen. I realize full well the difficulty associated in dealing with the immigration service. It's very cathartic to attend a naturalization ceremony. It's a moment I highly recommend everyone take time out to go and watch. If the pride and joy expressed by the new US citizens doesn't bring tears to one's eyes, one doesn't have a heart. And, it is a moment that makes one truly proud to be an American. For as much as people think we suck ass, we are still a country that people want to flock to. It's a very moving morning.

But, should they get sick, fuck 'em. No tears then. :{D

The part when they called out the names of the countries that people were coming from and had the citizens-to-be stand up as they were called... was very moving, and when my time came to stand it did make me cry. I could have done without all the 'under god' talk, but since the time I was naturalized, apparently it has been removed from the ceremony.

Considering the OP, here's a most appropriate photo of me right after my Naturalization Ceremony. (My goodness, I'm happy to say I've lost 20 lbs since that day!!)

He did though (so people said it must be faked) :dunno:

Even without that it just amazes me what goes on in peoples minds. Do they really believe that the president is not vetted. That the CIA is just like "oh he says he was born here? cool. we believe him"...Donald Trump's ego is so big he thinks he is going to uncover something that the highest intelligence in our country can't/hasn't

Candidates are only "vetted" by their opposition, which is enough. The CIA doesn't (lawfully) investigate candidates for public office.

If the Republicans actually could show he was not born in Hawaii they would do it, and they would be wholly justified in doing so. And, they have plenty of resources to higher plenty of investigators to get to the bottom of it. No mainstream Republican lends any credence to the birth certificate argument. Even Glenn Beck rejects the birther arguments.

That's how much I've paid attention to this stupidity...

As far as Trump goes, he's one to talk about covering things up with that comb-over of his.

Yes, and he was a little stiff too.
