I think there is some merit with the distribution of votes. No one has more than two. Scum may find it hard to kill off some one in one go. I'll be interested to find out from players who gets what points overnight. I guess not everyone will want to share. This is what I meant by spreading the vote.oblivion wrote:We should update this daily with all votes to date, along with a day-by-day breakdown of who has kill-voted whom.

Re: Timebomb Day 1
I was concerned about spreading votes for spreading's sake as opposed to because we think pretty strongly that the votees are scummy. I still am.Magicziggy wrote:I think there is some merit with the distribution of votes. No one has more than two. Scum may find it hard to kill off some one in one go. I'm going to confess that I'm having trouble working out a good strategy for town. I play intuitively, and I've always been more interested in finding the next scum than in playing the game on a numbers/probability basis.
Re: Timebomb Day 1
^^ In fact, on the occasions where I can recall doing what the numbers said was prudent, it's usually either delayed a town win or resulted in a loss. There have been a couple of significant exceptions, but the rarity has kinda reinforced the rule for me.
Re: Timebomb Day 1
hi guys i caught up, i'll go back and answer a few points raised
Re: Timebomb Day 1
^^ the above posts are an invitation to suggest and discuss strategy, btw, because the winning strategy is probably not going to be proposed by me.
Re: Timebomb Day 1
yup to the conf bias (sorry feck!) but this is one of the reasons i think feck is towncharlou wrote:I think Fecks zeroed in on me because I FOS'd him at the start of the game. If he's town, he's now indulging in confirmation bias and if he keeps it up it will be detrimental to town. I've given enough clues for anyone paying attention to know this.
seems i'm running on towndar here too

Re: Timebomb Day 1
With respect to strategy. I think lack of town strategy in the opening days is inevitable and will lead to spreading of votes. Only when the pressure mounts and people get closer to being armed will real information start to flow. Take UT's comment about not caring about a vote on him. if everyone thought that, then you can see how impossible it will be to find scum. When scum start getting to two or 3 votes, then it should get interesting. If some uncleared players are left behind in getting votes, then you can be sure there is a scum in there. If one scum survives, we lose. So my thinking was around making sure there is pressure on everyone, rather than going after one plyer or two players at a time with scum no doubt helping us decide.
In a word, no strategy to start with. Just let the votes spread according to whim. But don;t let any one player sneak under the radar.

Re: Timebomb Day 1
8 players kill-voted today. 2 posted shortly after nightfall that they had intended to vote.
Where are most of the scum? Did most scum vote, or did they not? On the one hand, they need town to be voted if they are going to win. On the other hand, for all we know today was entirely a circular firing squad by town.

Re: Timebomb Day 1
I would seriously consider using your votes on an unvoted player tomorrow.
Maybe a particularly quiet one like Athene.
Got to go.

Re: Timebomb Day 1
It's hard to not think that way if you are vanilla town, though. That's what vanilla town are for - cannon fodder. Every vanilla town nked is a special free to do their job another day. and a vanilla town lynch will hopefully provide some useful info when the day(s) are reviewed. You have to factor in your other abilities besides the gm-given roles in deciding how expendable you are, but the prime directive of vanilla town are to get scum lynched and to protect specials.Magicziggy wrote:With respect to strategy. If you're too obvious about feeling expendable, though, you narrow things down for the scum kills.
I'm still trying to get my head around how this game affects that dynamic.
Re: Timebomb Day 1
feck seriously this is conf bias, have a spliff or something. Loads of people, most of whom you haven't disagreed with on any other major point have asked you to drop this even if you don't yet understand why.Feck wrote:No .That's not why I voted you at all .

Pretty sure i can my friend, pretty sure i can.Fuzzy Fungi wrote:Hi gib! Sorry buddy, I posted when I woke up and then I went through my entire morning routine! Now I'm back.
gib, I would love it if we were both town too but I'm pretty terrible at reading anybody on day 1. But if you can read me then I guess that's good enough for me.
unvote; vote oblivion
Re: Timebomb Day 1
i was hasty in voting you, pretty sure i made a mistake thereUselesstwit wrote:gib is really coming across as whiteknighting people, 3 people he's mostly sure of on day one? That's a lot more than I can say.
As for mz and charlou thinking that I don't care about votes being put on me because i'm apathetic, maybe they should step back and reevaluate, there is one group of people in every mafia game that shouldn't care that much about dieing. I'm in that group. If me getting 70 points stops a special from being depowered so much the better. hell for that matter if they want to pile the votes on so deep that the seer doesn't need to waste a view on me because i'll be so very dead, i'm okay with that as well.
I'm also a little concerned about the mayor vote for feck and charlou. They've already went at each other for a good chunk of this game, and were also the two that lynched each other in the last game. I'm not sure if it's baggage or if they just appear scummy to each other but they both look a little trolley tracked to give extra votes to for the entire game.

This is a very bold statement.
but yes it is a rather bold statement, however fuzzy and i are firm friends and he will find it hard to lie to me if he is scum and i reckon i would pick up on this. That'll have to do you for now.
At least it shouldn't
