I'm wondering about this too. I'm assuming that scum will have some sort of system where they target one person and will add a certain amount of points to their vest. Say, maybe 2 or 3? or 4?? But, I'm thinking that there is also some sort of town special that subtracts votes from the vest.

But the seer, like others have suggested can wait a few days (or more?) - (what to others think on this???) to out their information. And then when they do, we can play a back and forth game with scum - of adding, subtracting points. Of course they will eventually be topped up, because we only have the option to do it every other night --- actually, I'm not even sure if we even have a special role that does this -- but, I'm assuming that we do -- kind of similar to a doctor?

So it'll be a bit of a sacrifice, but at the same time - scum will waste their point adding in the night round on only one person.

Ob I'm not too sure of you yet. Charlou, Feck, UT & MZ seem townish. I wasn't sure about gib earlier, but he mentioned his PM sort of being customized, and was also testing Feck for patterns... which makes me think town.

I was pretty fuzzy (if Fuzzy will excuse the term) early in the day, and any clarity I think I've gained may be an illusion, but I can't see how anything I've talked about or suggested was anti-town given what I know so far of the game design.

In regular mafia every day is a fresh start in terms of nearness to lynch or to night kill. You bring your history with you, but not the votes you got on prior days. In this game that's not the case, which is why I personally feel cautious about passing out points.

Again, got any thoughts about that being the only post Aza has made?

I'm asking again because you seem to be whiteknighting Aza a bit with your posts about him so far.

No, he usually posts quite a bit more, especially on day one. The content of that one post was typical of his gung ho style, but it being his only post isn't typical.

I'm not trying to whiteknight him, just stating my opinion that I'm not going to jump on it, till maybe we hear more from him. It was a page 3 suggestion as well, when we were trying to figure things out.

So why do you assume a special would be able to subtract points, rather than simply prevent points being added? Do you know something we don't know?

So why do you assume a special would be able to subtract points, rather than simply prevent points being added? Do you know something we don't know?
Firstly, some people will know things others don't, and for legitimate reasons.

Secondly, I don't think anyone actually assumes anything. Not even people with specific knowledge.

The only problem, though, is how town specials convey the results of their work. I mean, what use is a seer if they can't tell us what they've seen?
You don't have to share all the information you've gained as Seer. For example there is no good reason to out that you're a special just because you've viewed another person as vanilla town. The cost of outing isn't worth sticking your neck out for a vanilla, so essentially outing is only necessary if and when you view scum.
seers get alignment/not role. there's another sort of investigative special that learns what night actions a person has, but it's a rare role IME. You usually only see it in very large games.
