Blasingame is at fault. He essentially challenged the other guy to a duel, which is illegal. He threatened to kill Tehnet, which is also a crime. When Tehnet did not show, Blasingame returned, armed, which is yet another felony (being armed while committing a crime), shot Tehnet and Tehnet lawfully defended himself.Jörmungandr wrote:Lot of gun control advocates think the vast majority of US homicides are incidents like this.
If Tehnet had not been lawfully armed, he would likely be dead right now. So, far from being a "wild-west" shootout, it was a perfect example of a law-abiding citizen using his 2nd Amendment rights to lawfully defend himself against an aggressor armed with a shotgun.
Good for Mr. Tehnet, although I'm very disappointed that Blasingame survived the confrontation. It militates for Tehnet becoming a better shot.
