I think this footage deserves its own thread. If you go to this site (BBC video page) and watch from about 2:00, in the lower left hand corner you'll see a group of people trying to outrun the tsunami. Most of them get away, but it appears one man has to run back and get a small child and haul him/her away just ahead of the waters.

Yeah, no joke. I saw that earlier today on local TV. Shit of a situation.
