Yeah, I think tsunamis only happen when a large section of the crust either rises or falls suddenly. The sliding faults don't make them. As far as I understand, anyway.

Luckily I live at 400 ft elevation, so the likelihood of being drowned by a tsunami would be slim. And, depending on which way the plates slide, I might have an opportunity to improve the value of my property.

If that chunk of island in the Canaries let's loose, 400 ft level would be problematical.
