I think her songs are Ok but I have a dislike for her because of the whole outrageous image thing she apparently has that just isn't there. I listen to the radio on my post routes quite a lot and will sometimes stick on Capitol FM because it plays fast dance music which makes me walk quicker. The day after the Grammies I got bloody sick of listening about how she "stole the show" by coming on stage in a massive egg. The presenters went on about it for so long and all I could think was how not only was it not news worthy, it was also completely tame. I might have classed her as outrageous if she made an entrance by decapitating a child, not by hatching from a synthetic egg...

Yeah, that's my reaction to her too.

Anyone read the Vogue interview?

The magazine hypes up the interview as though you'll suddenly see she's a multi-faceted non-pareil-- then you read the actual interview, and she comes across like your typical needy attention whore.

She's no Bjork, that's for sure.

I really enjoy her music but ignore the rest of it.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Evabot wrote:Yeah, I can't say that I'm a fan. I just don't "get" the hype. Her "forward" fashion with vinyl and rubber is something I've seen at clubs for years. I don't think she's all that shocking or original, especially if you've already seen the style/videos of artists like Little Boots, Roisin Murphy, or Goldfrapp. I don't really dig her music all that much either, maybe in small doses? Her videos are fun to watch but I could never listen to her on my own.

Too much other good music I need to get around to discovering. :tea:
I wonder what, within the limits of the law, would be shocking these days.

I like her! I don't go to clubs, so her style is edgy to me. And, I love that she's not a Brittany Spears look-alike. She's actually not that good looking at all, but boy does she have confidence! I love that.

Wait, Lady Gaga is a woman? I always assumed the name was supposed to be ironic since the guy was so manly looking..

I get the feeling that both her and Madonna are drag queens trapped in women's bodies.

Absolute genius. Her music is, in my humblest of opinions, marginally better than most of her contemporaries, but her real contribution is turning becoming and being famous into a performance art unto itself.
