We're not so different, as this young man once noted...

"The links between the US and British defence, security and foreign policy establishments are so close that perhaps it is no longer possible for any British government to act independently. When challenged, our ministers always say that we use our influence “behind the scenes” with American allies, rather than challenge them in the open. But this, too, is a failed tactic. I am told, for example, that William Hague tried hard to persuade Hillary Clinton not to veto last week’s Security Council resolution, but was ignored. It is time we became a much more candid friend, because the world is changing faster than we know."

If the UKs relationship with the US were not so very 'special' it wouldn't allow US corporations to buy into the UKs newly franchised health and education sector, or to tender for any public service which might benefit from the efficiencies of the profit motive, nor would the UK allow a single US conglomerates to own 25% of the media.

America is so special that pretty much everybody in the UK wants the UK to be just like the US - apparently.

We should have a like-for-like relationship with the US, where we join their wars two years after they begin, when it's already won.
How come Britain had to pay for WW2 ? We paid for the privilege of saving Europe and the world from the Nazis, while the US sold us obsolete hardware at extortionate prices.
Somone should tell them that we saved THEIR asses from Hitler.
If it wasn't for us, Hitler would have been nuking New York in 1945.
We saved their asses, and they charged us a fortune for the privilege.

It's typical american bullshit to turn something they should be deeply ashamed of into some kind of heroic victory. They are still doing it today.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

So, I present you with the list of material the US provided the UK, things the UK requested, and you can't even open the link to see what was sent. You can't read.

You can stick your list up your ass. (you might have to move your head to one side).

mistermack demonstrates the problem with providing information to people who wish to remain ignorant.

Crumple wrote:Their broke. Their broke worse than we're broke. Their gonna be a real a mess in years to come and like a drowning man thrashing in the water they'll grab onto what they can and they'll drag the UK down with them if we allow it. I think it is better to get out before they stagger and fall over rather than waiting until the chaos of the day after. I think the day when they can be left till tommorow is over. We're lapdogs, not poodles - we're British godamit. We don't have to turn into a theocracy just cos they want to be one !!! Now lets stand together and salute the Queen !!!

You're not British anymore. Something happened to you people. It's hard to see the Churchill in you blighters these days. How you ever ruled the world is beyond me. Whatever gene you had has skipped a generation or two....

...I hope it comes back, though. The Brits and the Americans are the last, best hope for freedom on Earth. There is a rising tide of totalitarianism in the world today. The small bits of the world that are still relatively free will look to the Brits and the Americans to lead. Let's hope we have enough of the stuff left in us to do it.

Invade? And they can carry on writing the blank cheques as long as oil transactions are most done in dollars. Nothing to worry about there, business as usual, move along now, haven't you lot got homes to go too....?
Some of us care. The problem is that there is a huge resistance to reductions in public spending.
