Have you guys finished paying off the debt you owe to us for pulling your fat from the fire in WWII yet?

Ah, good, glad to hear it. At least we won't have to send Luis, Froy, Matt and Sonja over to repossess the Crown Jewels...

I think it is better to get out before they stagger and fall over rather than waiting until the chaos of the day after. I think the day when they can be left till tommorow is over. We're lapdogs, not poodles - we're British godamit. We don't have to turn into a theocracy just cos they want to be one !!! Now lets stand together and salute the Queen !!!

The UK wouldn't now exist if it weren't for the US intervention during World War II and the "special relationship" is the only reason that a failed empire like the UK is even given access to the world stage. France and Germany have dominance in Europe, not Britain and would have asserted that more forcefully had the US not intervened.
If/when the special relationship ends the US will barely notice it's gone; The UK on the other hand will be reduced to the land of faded importance that it is.

Didn't it end ages ago? Surely it's just been a figment of the imaginations of British PMs for at least a couple of decades now.

The special relationships I know of tend to involve one person bent over the coffee table, knickers at knee level. Which of us is it this time?

About time the nail was put in this coffin. It's irrelevant to the US and embarassing for the UK. If we ever decide we don't want an "independent" nuclear deterrent, we won't need such a servile relationship with the US anyway.

The way the dollar is tending squid sounds good. Or haddock. Haddock is quite nice, or maybe monkfish.

Special relationship?
I have one in mind.
