FBI Investigates the Church of Scientology

It's difficult to have much sympathy for this guy (I only read the first page). This stuff he's complaining about, it really comes as a surprise to him? Did he have his head that far up his ass for this long?
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Yes, but I'm liking the part about the FBI investigation...

I am stunned that, for a clearly intelligent chap, it was the Gay-rights issue that made him question his faith, and not the Thetan/Xenu/Volcano/Apocalypse/Sci-Fi Author thing!

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

In answer to why he would have his credulity bent by anti-gay talk when the rest didn't do it, I have noticed something in a few people I know.
They are 'hyper-gay'.
I made the term, so it's probably wrong, but basically, these are gay people who are more upset by gay-bashing than by having their own head bashed. For some reason, this cause has some people REALLY upset. I don't think all of them are gay (I don't think anyone is gay except if they say so) but all of them will LEAP to defend gay rights.
It's good, but it's so good it's almost funny, if you see what I mean.

I think a lot of that comes from the amount of personal conflict that it takes to come out as gay for some people - once they manage it, they want to tell the world and part of that involves attacking any attack on gayness.Cunt wrote:In answer to why he would have his credulity bent by anti-gay talk when the rest didn't do it, I have noticed something in a few people I know.

It is a similar case with anyone that has made a life changing decision - newly ex-smokers are the first to complain about smoking in public places, for example. And atheists that got there by throwing off religious shackles tend to be more polemical towards the religious than those that never had any faith.

Oops, I miswrote. The folks I am thinking of are NOT themselves gay, but defend rabidly 'The Gays'.Xamonas Chegwé wrote:I think a lot of that comes from the amount of personal conflict that it takes to come out as gay for some people - once they manage it, they want to tell the world and part of that involves attacking any attack on gayness.Cunt wrote:In answer to why he would have his credulity bent by anti-gay talk when the rest didn't do it, I have noticed something in a few people I know.

Like I said, good, but funny.
PLUS, I think it's easy to stand against something as clearly wrong as 'gay-bashing', but tougher to take a stance against the smoky-woo that is pitched in various directions by preachers.
This was his 'chink in the armour', I guess.
Re: FBI Investigates the Church of Scientology
I can think of a couple of slam-dunks the FBI and state authorities have regarding the "Sea Org" minors, including child abuse, child neglect, involuntary servitude and failing to meet state educational standards.
With enough evidence of a pattern of criminal conduct, RICO statutes might apply.
On the other hand, when it comes to adults who are participating voluntarily, It's entirely their business and if they want to be gullible suckers, I say let them.

Re: FBI Investigates the Church of Scientology
I don't give a shit what they do at that Scientology shit house. Believe me, I lived in a cult (not that one) and their grandiosity, holy of the holies, we are the ones, babble shit is nothing new. They all think they're 'SPECIAL' . Yea, they're special, like shit on a stick is. Anyone that wants to be a part of it is none of my concern nor will I lose any sleep over them.

Won't someone please think of the children!!

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.
