People with religious beliefs tend to validate the thinking of people with differing religious beliefs because they share a common tendency to base large portions of their worldview on speculation. It is possible that somehow the universe is linked to a grand unified consciousness, but we have zero ways to find that out right now. It would explain nothing, predicts nothing and does not inform no moral or ethical decisions in any way.

Why would anyone bother believing anything about that proposition either way, except maybe as a concession to the idea that there is a Supreme Being slot that needs to be filled by something?
