I love it when a plane comes together!

This was a hobby of mine when I was a kid. Suffering as I think I did from ADHD (undiagnosed in those days thank god), it was about the worst hobby I could have had! I used to get glue everywhere, be inpatient for it to set and paint (badly) on bits of plastic with wet glue on them! Fiddly bits like the struts and the canopies used to drive me nuts!

The most fun I had with them was putting fire crackers in them, setting the fuse and throwing them in the air to watch them explode as if they had been hit by flak!

These still stress me out, but only relatively speaking. Even when dealing with the most awkward or time-consuming problem, I don't get stressed out. I can work away calmly for hours and hours, completely oblivious to the outside world. To the untrained eye, it often looks as if I'm not doing much. I spend so much time on cleaning up parts, painting, filling in gaps, removing seams, more painting, etc ...

Ah, the Airfix Dora - I'd recognise it anywhere* - he should have modified the drop tank to show that great big join in the middle:

*Partly because I just bought another one ... you can never have too many Fw 190 D-9s.

Maybe it's time I built another one - it has been 25 years since the last kit.

Actually, I put a lot of thought into sizing the images to try and keep the file size and dimensions reasonable. The last number in each file name indicates the % of the original image size that this image was reduced to.

The entire image is going to get loaded anyway, so enjoy the pixels I say. Or I could switch to thumbnails ...

You don't have to resize them if you use imgfit, they'll fit any screen. That way we could see originals in their full glory.

... because of the on-the-fly re-processing that may be required. Anyway, in future, I will use thumbnails if the images are over a certain size. I have bigger versions of many pictures available, and I may want to use those instead.

Okay, that works too. BTW, your careful resizing didn't work for me. I'm on a netbook right now, so they're clipped anyway. I had this talk with Patrick once. He said the maps should be the right size to fit on a screen. I asked him if that screen was on a 23" monitor or a Blackberry.

BTW, the missing canopies on some of the Hurricanes are off somewhere else being partly painted before attachment - always a chore.

This morning while lying in bed, I reached over for the pile of instruction leaflets belonging to kits that are not yet finished.

Conclusion? There are about 70 kits that I really, really, really ought to finish. And another 25-30 that are more problematic.

After that, I lay in bed for another hour, contemplating the meaning of life ...
