Heh, we three were the flying monkeys in the Oz game.. we won, of course :smug:
I still have no idea what that game was about.

Although, coincidentally, I am painting the same room as I was then.
Then I was preparing the canvas.
Now I am making a complete and utter mess.

I didn't realise how much fun throwing paint at walls could be.
you're putting canvas on the walls?

Yea, it was Zigmen as well who was the other team mate in the Wizard of Oz game.

MZ -- you did have Irre and me, both pegged -- as well as others.

Like I said in the whiteboard, last post. You tend to hold town together. You do a lot of questioning and so keep the posts flowing. I'm glad (sorry!) that I chose to kill you when I did... because town had to be broken down.

Though, MZ - you are good at asking lots of questions too. And gib too.
I'm hoping that players are taking note of effective town strategy and in-thread play, especially in games where we can't count on the usual specials. Not just my strategy, but others' as well. I have learned ratz-specific reads from a few players here, and in fact I tend to count on being able to read a few players who have good scumdars. If I can tell if they are town, then I put weight on their suspicions and I try to support their reads in the thread. being able to get town reads is every bit as important as being able to get scum reads.

anyway, my point is that asking questions, and pushing back at the answers isn't magic - it's simply an effective way to shake enough info out of other players. It's not the only way - observing what a player does without pressure is also useful. But somebody's got to make it happen. In a game where other players aren't making it happen, I will. And I will go after people that I know *can* scum hunt if they don't.

those of you who have played with me at TR as well as here have probably noticed that I'm not quite as much of a force of nature when I play there. I don't have to be, because most other players are uncovering stuff, pushing at each other, and putting out their ideas.

I find it easier, when town, to spot out other town. I usually try to do a process of elimination type thing.

I note that you find, when scum, the process of elimination somewhat straightforward as well. ;)

for me, sometimes, it's a scum-spotting game and sometimes it's a town-spotting game. Once in a while, it's both. town-spotting is more tentative and time-consuming. When my towndar is working and my scumdar isn't, people usually think I look scummy because I don't emphatically go after other players in the early day, and if I do, I'm often wrong. The Simpsons game worked that way for me. In the Cannibal game, my scumdar was working, though I only had one day of play.

That does explain your town style of play, though. And it's why your scum game is hard to spot. Will keep that in mind. :D

No. Actually. There was a couple of hairy moments toward the end when I wasn't sure about the second pick and I was hoping the first pick would make it.
I got too sure on the last night. Probably should've waited before picking. I was sure Mort was the scum and it didn't matter who I picked after that. There was no preference in who I picked.

Hah, congrats, scummers!
Foolish ones, don't you know that Mantis is Queen of the Scum??
I'd trust her about as far as I could throw a grand piano.
Hail, Mantis!

Thanks for the game Azathoth!
Great game all. I thought we were done for at the end with Irre and Mantis being on the top of so many lists.
That was a close one!

The one mistake town made was to give mantis too much credit for executing me. She had followed the group will, and if she hadn't she'd have been lined up after me for execution. Oblivion realised it, but fell for the 'aww Mantis is too sweet to sledge and thus couldn't bus her teamy' cliche :hehe:

I couldn't believe how in the clear mantis was after bussing me. It was a massive risk, because she wouldn't be king the following day after I was killed, and our game would be over.
