Re: Kingmaker day two

like I said, it troubles me that I'm defaulting to people who always look scummy to me. I reread this thread over and over again, weighing what people said about each other and considering what they've contributed so far. I wrote the execute post about 4 times before I posted it.

I don't feel confident that I got an assassin, but I think I eliminated someone who would remain a big question mark indefinitely. I regret a little that I didn't choose mono, though. And Zigmen for that matter, but I decided to take on some of the comments of other players. Most of us are town. I hope the group wisdom is correct.

So what advice to future Kings Oblivion? We still haven't organised a formal vote.
I think that would be a telling way to go.

You are highly suss of Zigmen but resisted lynching him. I see.
Why are you not trusting your own instincts?
They usually serve you so well.

tbh this looks more like zigmen's town game than his scum game to me.

a formal vote would help, I think. the main thing is getting people to talk. I felt more like a meeting facilitator than an executioner. Perhaps intentionally. I didn't start the day with a strong scum read on anyone and I didn't end the game that way either.

irre really worried me, and still does. but, I thought she seems to have a pretty good grasp on the role dynamics of this game. It came across as special hunting to me, but after a few rereads, I thought maybe it comes down to just having a good grasp of how the roles may work and how they may motivate the people who have them. That's something I usually can key into, but it didn't seem to help this time around.

Formal votes ruin the whole point of the game.

Also scum can vote off another civvie and easily blame townsfolk while pulling a "Well I wanted to go with X" ploy.

formal votes are informative only though. the king still has to decide whether to follow the advice or not.

it's a very strange dynamic. no overt power unless you are the king. and if you are the king, it's all on you and you will bear the blame if you are wrong no matter what people had to say during the game day.

In answer to Oblivion's question, I picked Gib because (as I said), Gib looked overly nasty and was quick to jump on the lynch-Zig BW.

I picked Denny because he claimed my game looked like my scum game with zero specifics.

I also Fosed Irre for playing two sides of an argument.

Oblivion orders the execution of DennyB. A search of the corpse reveals a tattoo of the assassins guild. Denny was an assassin.
